hey is anyone here able to help me with a base map for vr4 motor running a wolf 3d v4 i have been looking around for ages
first i was told that i couldnt use standered crank angle sensor disk and that i had to get one from wolems but my local dealer talked to wolfems and they said that i could use the standered crank sensor and they would send a base map down with instructions on the reference + sinc.
its been a month and they havent sent anything yet! so i am still unsure how to wire the cas up and set it up on the wolf.
can anyone help me with this?

Give SST in Perth a call ask for Steve he is very helpfull, tell him you are getting no assistance from Wolf. Steve is regarded as the WOlf Guru.

I rang EMS Steve at Wolf (Melbourne) the other day, and was informed the latest firmware will read a standard VR4 cas optical disk directly.
By all means call Perth Steve for help, but a call to EMS Steve would be a good idea as well.
keep us posted as to how you go, I want a VR4 base cal file myself.
Dave.

yea man can help you, Pm me your Private E-mail and i will send you my MAP, have optical L-300 dissy, 4 slot with 1 reference slot, i have 550cc injecters in mine but at least it will start and run with my MAP in it, you can tune from there, BTW get a O2 senser and tune with that, commodre 4 Wire unit ( more stable results as it has a heater in it) from REPCO about $80, and tune it you self, it took me a few days to get confortable playing with it, but in the long run i understand the WOLF3D better now, APC ran it after i maped it and only changed 3000-3500 area( water injection start area). :beer

To wire it up u should have four wires... red, black, yellow and white. Red is 12V, blk is ground, yellow is trig and white is home signal. Starion VR4 has the same ecu as you so he should be able to help u with a few maps

Id go check out
www.clubvr4.org and sign up there.
Was of great help to me when doing my bro's vr4 saw a couple of discussion topics on wolf3d for vr4 just recently seem to be a fair few guys that use the wolf on their vr4's there, you have to sign up to browse the forums but it'd probably be worthwhile to you considering you have a vr4 staz :)
hope that helps.

thanx guys
i think my local dealer talked to a guy called steve and he was ment to send one down but didn't
i have got a 1k resisitor i think that goes between the signal wire and the power wire.
i'll see how i go with the map from starion vr4 and let u guys know.
i dont think wolf have very good support tho i have e-mailed them my self and got nothing so i emailed haltech when i was lookin for wiring diagrams and they replied within 30mins but unfortunatly there info was useless as they gave me diagrams for vr4 to haltech.
i would of thought that wolf would have 4g63 info and diagrams on there website as they are a popular motor but they only have info on 4g93.

Hey just be carefull when wiring up the signal form the CAS, the Manual is a bit vague, basically, 4 wires out, ( will check colour and post later)
RED +12V
Black -GND
White signal clinder firing points, 4 Slot etc
Yellow signal, trigger reset/ reference
Now as for the PULL-UP resister, one end resister 12V+ other end to signal wire from dissy. NOTE!!!! attach resister 2-4cm from terminated end of signal wire, the signal wire end then goes to Wolf signal input, it is now correct for the wolf to recieve signal from. I F*&Ked around for 2 days trying to get a signal to the wolf from the opticl dissy!!!! No problem from the STD Starion Dissy( Magnetic pick up). And don't forget to advanve Dissy 70 Deg BTDC. Hope this helps. If not i can post pics. :beer

Mmmm, right, I am a little confused, The supply for the WOLF ECU, I used the orignal supply wire for the Starion power ECU, the ignition and optics +12V power, the orignal power for the Starion ignition coil. Hope that clears everything up. :beer

oops i was ment to say power supply to the cas.
the one from the wolf is 5v correct? so u cannot use this wire to power the cas. so the cas reqires 12v?
cheers.

those are V3 maps, they wont work on a V4.
might give you a rough idea though.
the VR4 CAS will work fine with a +5V supply.
supposedly, late firmware V4 ecu's will read a VR4 CAS trigger directly, however I have not been able to get a sample setup out of wolf for it.
