Evil Thoughts........... 2JZ swap?????

I did a search, couldn't find anything.

Let me explain 1st:

As most of the sydney guys know, I have been very close with Rocco Tamburello (Rocco's Performance) for a long time. Recently he had a major crash in his 7 sec, 2JZ Rx-7 at SD. The car is a write-off, but the motor and trans are all good.

I have an opportunity to pick-up the motor and trans for a steal (proven 7 sec, 2JZ/Glide combo)

Pro's and Cons people..............

Keeping in mind the setup would be backed down to a consistent 9sec bracket car.

A shoe horn and some ky jelly will always be handy in situations like this :P

You will drive yourself crazy trying to get it in there, and at many times ask yourself why am I doing this, but at the end you may say, i wouldn't have it any other way.

if it is a good price, i would get it all the same, and then decide....

just my 2 cents

Essentially, it is a steal.

Considering it is a fully built, dry sumped 2JZ and powerglide transmission, that in a 2400lb car went 7.90 @ 165 mph on a soft tune. That I can probably get for the price of the machining alone, required to my TC.

He hasn't "finished" with the motor, so he would prefer to see it stay "in the family".

Plus, I would like to help the old bloke out financialy.

I have the Starion with the vg30et and have just sold a 89 supra with the 7mgte .my brother and I were mucking around one and got the tape measure out we thought It would fit in. You would have to move the radiator to th front section and run thermos and you would have a good look at the bell housing.

The car runs a very small radiator as its a concrete block on methanol, so no intercooler either.

Aaron, I have a very interesting proposition for you ;) Call me when you are free tomorrow.

Also, the 2JZ swap has been done a few times in the USA. ;)

PS. Aren't you meant to be preparing for Saturday? Or are you just paying the bills and turning up?

I am, this is my meditation before writing the speach.
Yeah, I had a look on there last night, heaps of JZ powered cars on that forum.

IMO 100% buy it and just sell off all your DOHC stuff to help paying for it!

It's going to take alot of work to get a 4G63 to be a 9-7sec car
