Background (just an update on what I did today):
I traveled around 350km's total today to get my Rim repaired and start putting on my lowered suspension that "Vuples" gave me!
The rim came up soooo beautiful! Much better than expected for the damage on it! By the way, the rim came damaged with the car, I didn't crash like a rookie LOL
I took off the front right suspension and got it back on fine after alot of fiddling. I took of the front left, but didn't have anyone to help push the lower arm down, so I couldn't get it back on by myself :glare:

Before I continue with explaining my issue, I'd like to say it worked out, because it gave me a chance to paint my brake calipers "RED" for an extra 25kw's of power! (Mighty-car-mod's joke).

Issue:
I cannot get my brake back onto the HUB!!!!

Since Issue:
After I couldn't get them on, I did 3 things;
1. Checked the brake pads! great condition!
2. Drained the brake fluid because I thought that might make it easier to get them on! Havn't tried getting them back on since tho.
3. Then started to do alittle painting :P

So, I couldn't get them back on, but now I have drained the brake fluid!
Will I be able to get them on now?
Anything else I might/should do to help get those bastards on!

(NOTE: I searched the forums 3 times with 3 different searches and checked over 15 posts trying to find any information. tho, looking back, I should of just googled the shit instead of bothering you guys. but atlest there is a post on it now)

what exactly do you mean by can't get them on, are you able to be more specific? Ie are the caliper bolts not lining up, are the pads spread apart enough to get the caliper with pads even over the disc rotors?

if you can't get the caliper with the pads fitted over the rotors you need to wind in the brake caliper piston a little bit. Best to do this by cracking the bleed nipple with a bit of clear tube going to a drain bottle and slowly winding the piston in with either a brake caliper spreader tool or even a g-clamp.

no offense man but you seem like a bit of a novice and I wouldn't recommend mucking around with the brakes if you don't know what you're doing - they are an important safety device and if they aren't functioning 100% due to mechanical negligence then you could land yourself and others in trouble.

That one! ^^^ basically won't make enough room to fit over the rotors.

Sadly I don't have a caliper spreading tool.
Tho I found a youtube video that might maybe be alittle helpful.. We will see :)

You are correct, I have a Novice. When I got my Starion tho, I promised I'd do everything myself and learn everything to how to do it. The soul reason I have the car is to learn. You learn nothing from taking it to a shop to be worked on. I don't mean to be dangerous, but there is only one way to learn.

just dont learn by leaving a caliper bolt loose etc and then smashing into a car full of kids! might be an idea to get a mechanically oriented friend or a mechanical shop to check over your work afterwards..

Yeah, I was gonna do that after I put it all back together. Add fluid, pump/bleed the air out of the lines, Then slowly drive down to my Family Friend's mechanical workshop that is 500 meters down the road.

Front brakes, use a g-clamp to push the piston back into the caliper.
Rear brakes, you need to screw the piston back into the caliper.

HAHA I had my wifes brakes changed by a mechanic because I had no time, 2-3 days later it was making grinding noises. 1 bolt on a caliper GONE... The other close to it. Not fucking good. Sometimes you just can't trust mechanics.

P.s. The brakes came off when changing the suspension. I cannot get my shop to a mechanics or brakes specialist because I don't have brakes on. Therefore, I asked you guys about it, to learn from and do it myself. I didn't have an option but to do it myself.

That statement/rant was made so I can justify this! :P LOL

Pull the pads out. Put a small block of wood on the piston so it covers the edges of it. Do not push on the centre of the piston. Or if there is space, use one of the pads to push the piston back in. It doesn't have to go back very far, just a couple of mm. Also, there is no need to empty brake fluid or undo bleed screws or anything on the caliper. Don't introduce air into the system or you will need to bleed it.

Yea boy, did you make everything else on your car BLACK to add that bit more BLACK? haha good to hear another mcm fan out there. I got by no problem without using a caliper winder thingy, just tools from an appropriate garage will do the trick. Would hurt to check the torque specs of the bolts from factory so they are all done up nice and tight
