Boost vs RPM

Can anyone advise me - at what rpm does a std Starion turbo start to develop boost, and /or what combination are people running on their engines and at what rpm are they developing boost.
Wanting to get something to come on at about 3k rpm and work through to 7k max, and able to develop around 1.4 bar.
Also it has to comply to homoligation regulations so it cannot be an after market item.
Anyone got any good ideas.
Thanks for any info,
Brian.

I was initially going to suggest this Dave but I understand they come on a lot earlier than a TC06 & that a TC06 would be better for the rev range (except right up top) but wouldn't sustain those pressures reliably like what Brian would want. Hence there was no comment from me even though I saw the post when it first went up.

if he wanted more top end than that, either a 20G or he could fit a TD06 20G onto it, but he wont be having power come on at 3K

Thanks Dave, nice thought Alspos - bit hard to hide though.
Built up a turbo as a spare a couple of years ago, TD05 Evo 3 grafted into a TC05 housing with a 20G comp wheel. The thing was dead up to 4000 rpm and had over 2.0bar of boost at 4200rpm. Had to machine the wastegate out to try and get rid of the boost. Great for bitumen , no good for dirt, was like an on / off switch and no driveability.
Come to think of it I should sell it as its of no use to me.
Anyway thanks for the replies gents,
Brian.

TC05 is ideal from 2500-4500rpms, TC06 from say 3500-6500rpms, the TD05-16G perhaps 3000-6500rpms (on a twin cam at least).

Brian
the combination i am running is an TC06-16G, this combination produces about 0.5 bar at 3000rpm and 1.75 bar by 3500 rpm, at 7000 rpm it is still at 1.55 bar, this is more than you are after, you might not get the same results on your car, there are a lot of other thing that will effect the results, Cam, porting on the head, intercooler and piping and the exhaust manifold and dump pipe, the 05 turbo's will run brick wall by 5500 rpm
My engine is only running 6 to 1 compression ratio and a large car, higher compression and a smaller cam will give you more boost down low

I agree with John, a 16G compressor wheel fitted to the TC06 Turbo would be the only way to go. Throw in a split-pulse manifold, and sleeve the turbine outlet to run a twin dump pipe and merge the waste-gate more nicely.
Then play around with cams, intake (porting that is), so on and see what you end up with.

for interests sake...
20g on a twin cam and at 6500 its running out of puff... at 18psi and those revs you can feel it drop off...
awesome midrange but :D

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I need some info and this seemed the right place to ask :)
Could the TC05-12a provide 10 psi boost from 2500 to 5500-6000 on a stock engine?

The same turbo did 10psi from 3500 in my car, but you have to try it :)

And that's about where you hit the fuel cut in a stock car.
