Recommended boost for TC-05

Post by Guru »

Here's the specs
- stock starion 4G63 engine
- L300 manifold
- 450cc x 4 VR-4 injectors
- Wolf3D V4 Plus
- TC-05 turbo
- non intercooled (yet)

What's a safe maximum limit of boost to milk out of the tiny turbo... without pushing it to the point where it pops?

I'd suggest a dyno run to get the mixtures and everything okey dokey.
Would hate to get detonation/pinging and destroy pistons.
:x
For piece of mind i would say this is the best way to go.
When i get my car tuned, i try to get it on the dyno to make sure everything is ok. :D Mine's a stocker no boost or cooloer. yet

I would say no more than 10PSI running Optimax. With intercooler 15 PSI. Standard pistons are a worry over 15 PSI if you starting making a bit of power.

The turbo prolly wont pop before your pistons do. The turbo will boost to what u want it to... the thing restricting here is intake air temps and fuel mixtures. With a nice size cooler and decent size injectors you may be able to max out the boost to what u want.

with a turbo this size id hazard a guess in saying that pushing it over 1 bar will probably put it out of its efficiency range and it will start heating up the air too much, I plan on only runnig 1 bar on mine but its intercooled.

boost

Hey Guru, when i had my SOHC and set up same as you, could run 15-18psi in winter optimax fuel, summer only 12-14psi, 18psi with heaps of water injection,( 330ml/min). Mine would start detonating at around 140-150 deg air temp( look at your WOLF display for Air temp). also how much ignition advance are you running? If you want send me your Map and i will have a look at it for you, and compare it to mine, if its close enough you could try mine, but i used a optical dissy and will have to set ignition parameters to your for it to work. :beer

Multipoint conversion

Post by Guru »

For those who know, I've been having problems with the fuelling in my car. It appears to be a computer related problem that started around November last year. I was going to try to fix the problem, but always knew that multipoint was the real solution.

All the gear is getting installed next week and wanted to know what kind of setup I should be aiming for. I'll let you know how it goes.
