Hey all,

Im in the process of changing a starter motor between cars. I have removed the radiator, and the distributor to allow easier access to the starter motor. We are going to take the starter phyiscally out of the car today and work on reinstalling this afternoon.

Is there an easier way that having to take out the radiator? or is this the only way?

Disconnect battery.
Remove wires from starter motor.
Remove two bolts through bellhousing that hold starter motor.
Withdraw the starter motor.

Pretty straight forward. Should definitely NOT have to remove the distributor or the radiator.

very unusual to remove the radiator to get to the starter. :o
most cars that i have worked on follow the same rules as cookie.
weird.

you're not getting confused with the air-con are you? the starter is on the connected to the bellhousing on the passenger side of the engine. Not too hard to get to.

It looks something like this:

This isn't a Starion starter motor but it looks very similar.

It is located under your inlet manifold.. and is bolted to the gearbox bellhousing.

there's about 6 bolts on the bellhousing i believe, and 2 of them are connected to the starter motor, and the other 4 are connected to the engine only

Guys, why does every one make special mention of me when they get excited. Bloody woohoo this and woohoo that. I mean, its nice you want to tell me personally but I'm concerned it could be showing favouritism. :D

Cheers
