Xenon Bulbs and the driving lights

Have put blue/white Xenon bulbs in my headlights and now the driving lights are quite dim compared with the way they used to be.

Does anyone know if the Xenon bulbs draw more power than the standard halogen bulbs? Or am I imagining the change because the Xenon bulbs are so much brighter.

I have the stock setup of the driving lights attached to the hi beam switch.

What is the wattage of them? If it's the same as what you had in there in the first place then no, the power draw is the same. Xenon bulbs are more efficient, hence more light per watt of power.

P = V x I
P=Power (watts)
V=Voltage (volts)
I=Current (amps)

Thanks Al. Not sure about the wattage. I thought they were the same but maybe not. Will have a look tonight.

There probably won't be much difference in the wattage, they will just be a heap brighter. Something about modern technology vs Ben Franklin technology.

Would imagine the stocky globes would be 60/55 or there abouts. I once ran 100w with stock wiring and melted the connector on the back of the globes. They were bright though. :roll:

Franklin, Watt, yep. Phone dude was Alexander Graham Bell tho.

Edison was a very smart man, invented the light bulb or incandescent lamp I think it's called, phonograph, motion pictures and probably a whole bunch of really important stuff that I can't remember. I know he also anticipated the later development of vacuum tubes, diodes and transistors as well.

I've got 110w/100w xenon/halogen globes in m JA. They work great but they do draw more power that's for sure!

I discovered why my headlights were dull, They needed a clean, Forget to clean them when they are popup lights.
How much brighter are these bulbs?
my headlights suck

Cam, the bulbs were about $30 from Supercheap. Blue/whites.
They make hell of difference over the stock ones. Well worth the investment.

Still havn't found out the wattage though.

my high beams are really shit..
probably about 2 inchs of bugs on them cos i never seem to pop up my lights when i wash my car.. so they havent been cleaned for ages

I've upgraded my bulbs as well. Definately worth the money. i hated the 'yellow' look on the old ones.
