Hey guys, done some reading on this problem and all answers where pointing to the "torque sleeve/tube"

"edit; sound comming from middle of car around gearbox"

but i just put on new front / rear U-joints on the drive shaft (same unit front rear).

and a rattle sound off throttle, and a clunking when shifting or taping the throttle is completely gone,

maybe a thing todo before trying a torque sleeve..

Check engine mounts and gearbox mounts.

Open bonnet, put handbrake on, start car, engage first, release clutch so it grabs a little and watch if the engine moves or rocks at all. (or have a friend watch)
Keep your foot on the brake as well....or you may end up through a wall.

sry *forgot to say "sound from gearbox area/centre of car"

you will feel the engine/gear box mounts through your shifter

Just a thought and I don't know if starions have them, but is there a carrier bearing on the tailshaft?

This happens to vr4's and usually that bearing is dead.

yeah good point, and also the torque sleeve internals can get worn,

Hi just checking. You had a rattle/clunking coming off throttle and changing gear and a rattle when coasting. But it was all smooth and quiet while on throttle? And these sounds were all gone after you changed the uni joints? Im getting the same, so I guess I change them and tll be all good.

you can check them for notchiness/play once you have undone the tailshaft, no need to replace them if they're ok..
