pistons

i have a JB with a stuffed no,1 piston. bore is ok and 2.3.4 are ok. cant find replacements anywhere. ordered a new set of standard size but they look like 16valve jobs not 8, and the diameter is 84 not 85. where can i find a piston, what is the standard bore? :D

You won't find any pistons for a starion in Australia, cast pistons anyway. You can use VR4 type pistons, ( have rebuilt 3 engines with these and they work well) Forged pistons are around $800-$1000, i am getting more cast VR4 pistons and should be around the $250-$400 depends on how many sets i buy. STD bore is 85mm.
Compression works out to be 8.0:1 :beer

looks like i need +40 thou, + rings, what's delivery time on a set? what sort of compression do you get with the VR4's?

Call ralliart order EVO 2 pistons. they will go straight in, you will however need to make the small end on the conrod 1mm in diameter bigger

so you sucessfully run vr4 cast pistons in the sohc motor ?
Interesting. Curious about compression also, but I'd guess performance is similiar if starion vr4 has done it 3 times, or......
I remember an aussie site with a pretty nice 2.6 that ran inexpensive cast Mahle pistons. Also, didn't Gav run cast ACL pistons in his 2.6 ? I would think they may be available to u 2.0 guys.

i got me hold of some brand new 40 thou over size pistons and rings :> gonna hown it out tomorrow and chuck em in :> should be good.... might have to sell starion but once itz done :(
