Hey guys,

Let's say you have a stock JA starion except that you've worked over the suspension, what's the first point of business when it comes to getting more power?

assuming your engine is totally stock that would depend on your budget and your ultimate power goal. you could start with exhaust and intercooler with a boost increase before deciding where to go from there

3 inch exhaust, intercooler and an electronic boost controller set to 13psi...

I've read the intercooler is the first place to start - it allegedly 'unleashes' double figures in bhp.

I wouldn't say intercooler unleashes more power. It really just makes it more reliable for you to run higher boost levels which will give you more power.

How hard is it to setup MPI yourself though? And don't you need to reprogram/replace the ECU if you do that?

Keep in mind that while i'm not a complete dunce when it comes to mechanics, i'm very new to the game. How much are all of these options likely to set me back, and to what extent could you have some of these options done in a shop for you?

Also, are you seriously selling your head + mpi OLD FART?

MPI you will need an aftermarket ecu. You can tune them yourself but its safer to get a fully trained professional to do it for you.

And yes he is selling his head and MPI setup. It is a great deal.

I can't find it in the buy/sell area. How much is the asking price? How much fuck around does setting it up require roughly? How much is an aftermarket ECU likely to set me back + prof. tuning?

Sorry for blasting the questions out like this :P

it depends on if you can install the computer yourself, what computer you are using and the tuner.

Also before you go mpi consider how much power you want and the condition of your engine. From there you can work out if its better to go mpi or twin cam.

enjoy the car as it is now and SAVE SAVE SAVE.

save enough to rebuild the motor. doesnt have to be an all out rebuild, just a decent freshen up.
Buy a MPI setup
Decent head (not absolutly needed)
Intercooler
Ecu
Exhaust

Do it all in 1 hit and it should be a nice car to drive around.

there is a few people on here selling full engines with MPI setups with everything to just bolt in and go!
