are my injectors finished

afternoon all,
along with the million other things i have to fix on my staz i noticed that my injectors were leakingran the engine blew it with the air hose to see if it was build up and it instantly rturned to leaking.
My question is the leak appeared to be comming from below the plastic injector plug not above so i don't think it's the o rings as otherwise the leak would come from above.
Do ineed to replace my injectors? or are these injectors fixable? any help would be appreciated.
:)

I had both leaking o-rings and leaking injectors , but they have completeley different symptoms:
LEAKING O-RINGS : Causes fuel to leak around the ECI cap with the ignition on or engine running.
STUFFED INJECTOR : Causes car to flood if you start the car , leave it off for about 30 minutes and try to start it again.
To check if your injector(s) are stuffed , remove the ECI cap with the fuel lines still connected , disconnect your EHT lead from your coil and hold the eci cap (with the injectors pointing away from your face !) and have someone crank the engine. Both injectors should squirt fuel sequentially. Stop the cranking , wipe the injectors with a clean cloth , leave the ignition on and check for 'dripping tap syndrome'. If you see fuel dripping from the injector nozzle , then your injector solenoid is not seating properly and should be replaced. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help,
I have a non eci looking inlet, the injectors are working however the leak i get is from below the the black plastic ring on the injector which is visible i assumed the orings were on the top of the injector thus my injector was leaking from an area that cant be repaired. Is this the case?
can the injectors be fixed?

4g6beat,
does not sound good. Injectors leaking there can't be repaired.

16vStarion on forums.nzmmc.co.nz is selling his Cyclone MPI manifold, which has the throttle already moved to the other side of the plenum. He used to run it in his VR4 Starion. Its a genuine VR4 manifold, so VR4 injectors just bolt right in. He wants 80 bucks.
This may be of help if you're moving to MPI, after that its just the ECU.

would a cyclone intake bolt onto a single cam head? i though the 16v and 8v inlet were different. 80 bucks is a good price though if it fits on the staz :)
now all i need is a lazy grand lying around for an ecu hehehehe.

Yes the Cyclone intake bolts straight on. Its exactly the same as the 2.4L L300. The only reason we use L300 ones not VR4 ones, is because the throttle body is on the wrong side. But he has moved the throttle body to the other side, so its basically just an L300 manifold.
Its the DASH engine that has problems with it.
What I like about the VR4 manifold, is they normally have 'Cyclone Intercooled Turbo' embossed in them :D

SpidersWeb,
not trying to give you a hard time but I think you have your wires crossed here. The is NO WAY the VR4 manifold will bolt on a 4G63 SOHC head :(

Ive also been told by many people it does fit, you just have to move the T/B. I guess I am wrong, but its something people have told me for ages :glare: :glare: :glare:
As far as I was aware, the only difference between the 4G64 L300 intake, and 4G63 VR4 intake was the positioning of the throttle body??? Guess not.

The 2.4 Sonata manifold and 2.4 L300 manifold will bolt straight upto the 4G63 2.0 SOHC head to enable you to go to multipoint fuel injection.
The L300 manifold will have the throttle body facing over the valve cover.
The Sonata manifold will have it's throttle body facing the firewall. You will need to relocate it to the other end of the manifold and then it will point towards the front of the car.
A VR4 intake manifold will definitely NOT fit.

Cheers for that cookie
Clears a few things up for me. Definately want to get that Sonata for SOHC.
