Headlamp/Indicator Circuit

Ok my indicators only flash when the alternator is on at above idle, until I drive it, then its fine but slow flashes. If its just idling or off, the indicators turn on, and stay on. So I guess the timing circuit isn't getting its power properly.

Also headlamps -

Low Beam - lights come up sweet, but dont turn on
High Beam - lights come up sweet, passenger side comes on dim, driver side not at all.
Driving Lamps - fine

So I'm imagining, there is a poor connection to the indicator flasher and headlamp relays.

Is there a specific place where BOTH of these items draw power from the same place besides the battery? Someone mentioned under the air box earlier. Ill be pulling that out tomorrow anyway, but if anybody has any advice, or information that can help, please do :) Cheers

Ill have a look for some wiring diagrams while Im online, but on dialup could be fun.

If I can fix it myself, it'll save me $$$

the connections to the headlights and front indicators are prone to going all crappy, have a look at the there under the headlight (lay on the floor and look up) or a main cable coming off the batt going to the fuse box or a flat battery. In fact, you say its fine when the engine is going? try a jumper from the + side of the batt to the big wire on the back of the alt, if this works then it is something in-between, if no then like you say, bad connection someplace else. Try the fusible links.

Cheers Scum,

Battery is a brand new gold series 380cca - I had to buy much larger connectors, which are brass, and very solidly in place. Although the earth is original, and bent - I may try linking the car chassis to the batt neg and see if it goes away.

If I can get a solid 12-14V from the fuse box, then I think this might be the deal:

Been reading Cam's wiring PDF. Very low resolution but it works.

The flashing and headlamp circuits are completely seperate and run seperate main power leads, except, for one little place. The switches on the steering column (controls low beam, high beam relays, indicator flasher relay, high beam warning lamp - all of which have been tempramental). So maybe worn contacts.
