chasing a heads up on which version of the twincam 4g63 turbo engine is the better one to get?

Depends what you want it for, lots of variants -

VR4, Evo 1-3, RVR, Hyundai, Galant NA etc.

Evo heads have a different port flow to the VR4, when you eyeball them side by side you will see the Evo one is higher.

Popular consencus is the EVO has the edge.

I'm going VR4 mainly because its what I could get and for a track car has plenty of flow.

ideally Evo 1-3 would be the best out of the lot, but depends what you want out of an engine. For a quick road car the Evo head with higher compression ratio would be good for low-midrange torque, while the VR-4 head (without the cyclone 8-runner manifold) would be better suited really high boost high hp engines.
