Starion injector alternatives

Hi Folks,

Does anybody know if there are alternative injectors you can fit to a JD Starion?

Not being a mechanic I would have though that I could look at either sleaving or machining the injector rail (where the injector head fits (sorry don't know the correct terminology)) and/or the body and fit an alternate injector? I realise that the flow rates and ohms of the injectors are critical but I assume that there could be some type of alternative that would be suitable, albeit with some work to make them fit?

Also, when my last injector stopped working some years ago (and replaced), someone suggested that the JB injector is the same, is this correct? Did any of the Cordias come out with the same injector?

It seems to be difficult to get the flow rate of the standard injectors for the JD, some articles seem to suggest that the primary and secondary are different but mine are both the same and I cannot seem to find with certainty what the actual flow rate should be.

Anyway, any type of help or advice would be appreciated. I contacted an injector place that was looking at replacing the injectors on a Cordia but had not completed the job (I assume that it worked) but I would be looking at $1300+ to do the same, and I am looking at alternatives.

Cheers.

If you have a JD Starion then AC Cordia injectors are the same. AA and AB Cordia injectors fit the type B JA/JB injection. There are places in Australia that sell kits to replace the injectors but all are very expensive. Some US fuel injection places sell replacement ones somewhat cheaper.

I have some injectors lying around. What are the characters on the injector body directly under the plug? Something like "H57-3"

Thanks for the responses folks, much appreciated.

The current injectors are grey with "A59-1" stamped on them.

I tried pming dr death and have not had a reply, he may be on holidays.

I also tried some American injector sites but am still waiting for a response from two of them and it was not clear whether the replacement injectors were compatible with the JD, they listed them as 1986 Starion injectors but I wanted to confirm the flow rate was the same.

Found one site in NSW just now with Denso 1200cc/min 11mm Fuel Injector (Low Impedance) suitable for 4G63 engines. From what I have previously found out these look like they may be what I am after, like I said some sites seemed to indicate that flow rate for JDs but I am not sure. I am also fairly certain (though I have not confirmed this) that the injector is 11mm. Anyone hazard a guess?

Thanks NXTIME, can you also see if you have something to match please.

Cheers.

Does it really matter over the cc of the injectors? Can you use 500cc on a 900cc setup for example?

If you're using the stock ECU it matters a lot. If you're using an aftermarket one, doesn't matter a lot, provided the flow rate of the injectors is not too low.
