ECU change over - looking for schematic
Hey all,
Im gettign an aftermarket ECU installed by a friend who is an auto engineer/ electrical technician and he wanted to kno if anyone has a schematic of the wiring in the starion (1982 if possible...others would probably be ok as well) that includes the ECU. I have one which is a fiarly large diagram (1 a3 page) but there doesnt seem to be any ecu wiring on it. Anyone able to point me in the dir of one that shows the ECU and injectors?
Also, looking for an oygen sensor that i can put into the exhaust, anyone know a place to start lookin for a 3 wire oxygen sensor that would work in the car?
Lastly,
looking for a dizzy with a cam angle sensor built in that can slot into where the current one is. Does such a thing exsist and where would I get one from?
TIA
Jeff

All oxygen sensors are pretty much equal. Pick a common one (falacon, commodore) and go with it.fr335tyl3r wrote:Also, looking for an oygen sensor that i can put into the exhaust, anyone know a place to start lookin for a 3 wire oxygen sensor that would work in the car?
You'll want an optical dizzy from an L300 (late 80's).. not the easiest things to find but they are out there. 1990 model 2.4 Sonata's have them as well. We've found a couple at Blacktown Pick and Payless.looking for a dizzy with a cam angle sensor built in that can slot into where the current one is. ECI Wiring Schematics.

Seriously though, replace the wiring. If you have an aftermarket ECU, use the harness it comes with.
The Starion ECU harness can be removed almost completely intact without disturbing the main harness wiring. (ie, lights etc).

Wide band vs Narrow band? My knowledge is most oxy sensors are narrow band and pretty useless in an aftermarket ECU. Depending on ECU you can use a wideband - ie motec with lambda time will tune itself (to a degree).Cookiemonster wrote:All oxygen sensors are pretty much equal. I agree with Cookie re O2 sensors, but beware that a lot of late model cars are coming our with wideband sensors from the factory, so don't assume that just because its a factory O2 that its a narrowband sensor. The wideband sensors will have about 5 or more wires, the narrowband ones usually have 3 wires, occasionally 4.
Aftermarket ECU manufactuers will have a sensor they use, or if you ask nicely, will tell you which car comes with a similar sensor.
