the dude who owns the sr20 starion is a FANTASTIC guy, and that car is a PIECE OF ART :beer

it's up for sale at the moment, so if you want a staz with an SR20 in it, BUY HIS one.

The amount of attention to detail that's gone into that car.. no amount of money can buy..

but if you want to consider money.. if you manage to figure out how much it's gonna cost you to shoehorn an sr20 into a widebody staz, work ~300+ rwkw out of it, give the car a near perfect paintjob, deep dish rims, upgrade the suspension, breaks interior and every minute aspect of the car, (and don't forget to multiply the number you get by 3 to figure out what it will ACTUALLY cost you to do it all), then you'll still see that his car is a bargain, even after shipping and complying (or whatever) it in NZ..

and then there's the 4 years build time..

What are you doing? A Starion motor in a Nissan?

I agree that the widebody currently for sale with the SR20 in it is a bargain.
Don't discount the VR4 Galant motor as a viable and possibly easier conversion alternative.

and better. i hate SR's. a lot of the nissan boys are even waking up to them now. the mitsubishi is a better designed engine by far.

Is it a bargain? Can some one then tell me the 'bargain' price.

Ask him...

i've been told that the sr is easy to get a lot of power out of, but with that ease comes unreliability (i.e. you would still need to spend on making it a reliable car).. and that the dohc 4g63 has a much better design which, although makes it more expensive to get power from, the power is more useable and reliable..

is this true? if so, anyone out there who can give us a clue as to why?

Most common problem with the SR20 is the rocker arms. With high reving they become unreliable. and can ruin a head in some instances.

DOHC 4G63 doesnt have this design problem.

What I was aluding to is 'fictional' statements on a 'bargain' when they don't know the price. I don't want to ask him as I don't want to buy it but am interested in what a 'bargain' the price supposedly is.

I am building my own but with a 'real' engine! joke

I asked him because a friend of mine was drooling over the car. For the price that he's asking, I believe it to be a good deal. It's expensive for a Starion, but cheap given what it does, how it looks and how it would go.

I have no doubt he has spent a motza and what he is selling it for would have to be a bargain or he simply won't sell it unfortunately. Any thing near 10k is expensive for a Starion and when it ows him probably 40k trying to get over 20k will be difficult. I hope he gets someone who not only loves Starions but understands the expense involved in building such a great and unique car.

'63 dohc's are one of the easiest engines to get power out of. i'd say easier and cheaper than an SR by a long way. the most powerful 4 cyl 2 litre engines in the world are 4G63 dohc's.
