forged vs hi-perf OEM pistons

Post by dutchie »

i had an old pulsar (yeah i know u can stop laughing now) with a SR20DT which had forged pistons which cost as much as the car, rattled like marbles in a dog tin til they were warm, i switched them for hi-performance OEM pistons which have a much higher silicon content hence their expansion is minimal & they take plenty of heat. they cost about 2/3 of forged, most jap importers can get em 4 u.

someone on here (probably last year sometime) that if you used vr4 pistons with the sohc head, the compression would drop far far too much.

now i read here (admittedly a few months old) that they can be used.

although no one has said

YES YOU CAN JUST CHUCK EM IN N THEIR SIQ

can someone please say that so i can go buy a set and not fuck around with custom forged pistons...

From what starion vr4 told me you can use vr4 pistons on a sohc head if you get the right pin size and your cam is close to standard.
Starions are a disease, the only cure is poverty.
