yeah a hilux would be my pick if you were going for a live axle, having said that my gemini is swallowing a BW78 from a R31 silhouette, but yes it all depends on if you want to cut your car up or not and how much you'd have to farm out.

a full 89 setup should cost under 1000 by the time its imported and reassembled.
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

Not bashing the IRS, but given the expense of importing a late setup, a BW78/hilux/9" et al could be grafted in that gives the added bonus of extra traction for similarish coin (depending of course on skill levels of owner).
I'm building this car as a wed night street meet/full throttle fri/powercruise/supernats car. So the IRS setup will be fine.

I also have a 79 datsun 1200 ute here, that in time I plan on doing a full chassis, air shifted liberty, FJ24, funny car cage etc etc. For CC/SC ANDRA Group2 Super Compact.

Never said it was going to be an original one!

The USDM KA24DE crank looks very similar. Machine it to fit an away we go.
