i have a JA aswell and a couple of years ago i had the exact same problem, after spending over a grand,eg mits garage put the car on the fuel tester, the cat was running to much pressure, the fuel pump was banking up and the return was shit, after trying to fuel pressure regulator the problem was still there, next some clever prick said it was the fuel pump,no it wasnt,i took the fuel in pipe and there is a metal gorse in there,it was bloked with black shit,i cleaned it out and it ran like a dream,"for a while any way" i repeated this many times until one day no blockage but problem back, and yes the fuel filter was the first thing i replaced, the stazz then sat for 4 years in a shed in disgust,i came back from over seas and the problem was gone,i know ages ago i used many fuel system cleaners, plus i removed the tank and cleaned it,and blew comp air down the lines,i figure something must of been braking down and restricting the flow...iam not saying leave it for 4 years but maybe some things to check, get it on the fuel test machine..

it was basically a unit that was connected to the fuel lines on the car and it showed the pressure, flow and return values of the injetion system,i would think mybe a EFI tuner and diagnostics garage

my car is doin the same at the moment... i am pretty sure my problem is the waste gate acutator... i think it may be getting jammed open an it isnt holding any boost so its coughin an spluttering as its comin up the rev range. who knows you may have the same problem. does anyone know a cheap an easy way to fix it

Check all of your wires around the dizzy, i had basically the same problem and after a careful look around the engine bay it turned out to be a broken wire near one of the plugs that leads to the dizzy. heat and age got to it. solder and heat shrink fixed it.

If the engine seems to be behaving but the turbo won't boost it'd pay to look at your wastegate/actuator.

alright, I went for a thorough drive in it,...
it was quite random, sometimes the car will boost, sometimes it won;t...
i remember when it was warm **about halfway on the temp gauge**, the car accerated unreal, which I presume was how it normally should accelerate..

i dunoe if this sounds stupid, but I got different driving results from different engine temps?

dodgy afm :? ?
