I wouldn't expect figures that low from a 1.6L mivec engine in the same conditions.
Dude, there is something seriously wrong with your car! My car is currently running on 50-60% compression, uses more oil then fuel andl blows white smoke when I sit at lights and I get 13k/100km! As you read the rest of this post, I'm not alone in averages, with some even better then me on fully functioning engines!

Firstly i'd be cleaning your injectors! They could be completely clogged! Work from there!

i'm disagreeing with figures of 5.5L / 100kms, I drive 110km'h most of time and hard acceleration on corners, merging lanes, off of highway lights etc and get around 11 - 12L/ 100km's with some driving in traffic.

I believe 5.5L / 100km's is something only a BMW diesel holds the record for or possibly a suzuki cappacino.

My JA has perfect motor - FMIC - forgies - high flow head but...rusted front guards and keyed on every panel. Time to get serious or time to take it to the tip.

my orange car runs consistently at 10.4 litres per 100 km, thats one thing the single point is good for anyway! and thats a mix of around town, highway, and squirting it occasionally.
