I purchased my forged Ross pistons from Special Piston Services in Victoria a few years ago now. They cost me about $1200 from memory with rings. Piston slap occurs due to the larger tolerances that machinists give for the forged pistons expansion in the bores when hot. However, with the correct clearances, piston slap doesn't occur, so there isn't any piston "rattle" when cold or otherwise. The first engine rebuild I had saw the forged pistons slapping the bores when cold due to the larger than requested tolerances by the machine shop that built the bottom end. The second rebuild ws done by Coltspeed and the clearances were much better, so I have no noticeable piston slap at all.

Also, remember that the factory Starion compression ratio is 7.6:1 so make sure that u order the appropriate CR for your engine.

The Evo 1-3 valves and Galant VR4 valves should be the same or close enough to not matter.
does this mean i could use vr4 rods and pistons on the single cam head? as i've got a spare set lying around in my garage and i'm having my engine out soon. would be good to be able to handle a little more boost than the std pistons & rods.
How fast do those doorhandles go mate!

CP's are the best to run in a 4G63 all the big HP evos / vr4s run them and they are the 2nd cheapest out there behind wiseco but apparently wisecos arnt that strong. i retail VR4 4G63 cp's for $1150 with moly rings locks pins everything. anyone know if the gudgeon pin is the same for Staz and vr4 / evo ??? vr4 has a 21 or 22mm pin i think diameter is the same.

Simon from Morpowa in adelaide - fastest evo in aus uses CP's (and NX)
Rob Barac from APC in brissy - another 9sec evo uses CP's (and NX)
Nick Zervos from APC in Brissy - yet another 9 sec evo uses CP's (and NX)

and they all think they are the best thing since sliced bread (what was the best thing before sliced bread???? )

If anyone knows if the CP's line up with VR4 or evo for staz and wants some give us a call or email and ill see what wikid deals i can pull for you

The best thing before sliced bread was........warm and wet.
Wiseco and JE are being used in all the GRP A cars at the mo. They are ok, CP's are great also, but my fave was Cosworth. These babys are a mile infront and a finish that looks so good you want to put them on your mantelpeice. They have supported oiling holes and you can order them with gas expansion passages to hold the rings tight. But be warned, if your engine suffers detonation, you can put Barillium in there and its still going to blow....Forged is no miracle cure.
