Yeah get it dealt to.

My joint on the driveshaft seized, and started whirring and clunking, I didn't really notice it much (was like that when I bought it), then 500Km later I had to fork out huge money for a new one, a gearbox rebuild (as it had shaken it apart) and lots of other little goodies. Fun fun.

Althou I did get 1st prize for 'worst worn driveshaft' my 50 year old mechanic had seen in his life. w00t!

Pulled the driveshaft out this morning, and after testing the joints on it by hand, there doesn't seem to be any play. However, with the handbake on, if I try to rotate the fixed bit that connects to the diff, there is play, so I guess the problem is that shaft or the diff.

Will I have to drain the diff oil to remove that back section?

i had a similar noise come from mine and it was the bearing inside the torque tube. it used to make a banging noise sometimes other times a grinding/ wurring noise.

the torque tube is the thing attached to the front of your diff
