stock Starion puts out 125Kw at the FW, so 100Kw at the RW should be the norm..

The tco6 is both i'd say since my tc06's water pipe cracked the other day and also has a leaking oil return hehehehe ;)

stock standard starion is around 80-85rwkw mark...

the first tco6 of the ja came out oil cooled.

the jb tco6 was water cooled, oil came in from the top to feed the turb as per normal, water passed through the side of the later model tco6

Ryan, I think your prob may lie with engine temp and a need for an intercooler.

Put a cooler on and then get the Motec re-tuned. Also if you are going to put a cooler on think about going multipont as well. You will notice a big increase in power!

Of course it's a really really easy, inexpensive job. LOL

PS Go the Sonata manifold. Shorter IC pipe runs!!!

Uh Oh that'll start everyone off again. :D

heheheheh,
short of single cam vs twincam i can't think of any better way to start a long drawn discussion hehehehe.

 oh no! is it possible this thread will combine both topics into an Austaron UBERDEBATE!!!

imagine that! it could go forever :D

toysrus, if i slap you in the face with a frozen fish will that tempt you? or are we talking about cars?

StarionBoy, there are too many buttons under your posts, please remove some as they distract me..... mmm click..... click......click... what was i doing again?

single vs multipoint = VR4
single cam vs twin = twincam sounds better, therefore it goes faster. and they have a red rocker cover making them quite a weapon.

Well, that’s it. End of debate. How could anyone disagree with such a well thought out and constructive post that has absolutely nothing to do with Monday boredom. :D

But single cams weigh less :D

But anyway, didn't the tuner say or give any reasons as too why the car was making such little power ?

110 deg that explains something, that is more than the boiling point of water, I say a small % & of it would have to do with the POD filter, IMHO get the Starion Air-box outta the garage and just fit a K&N Standard Hi-flow replacement filter in it, cut a 3" hole in the Airbox and set-up a cold air intake directly from the front to the airbox, and replace the stock piping between the airbox and the turbo with a nice free flowing aluminium one.

Fit a Intercooler before doing the CAI, go to modyourcar.com they're doing the Hybrid OEM type $450 shipped or there abouts. Bar and plate 600 x 300 x 75mm Type, mmmm very nice :D

Maybe even do the piping for both at the same time if your getting an exhaust shop to do it etc ?

Intake temp should drop to about 30 degrees by then hopefully and you should be hitting the 100kw mark after a better tune.

What's this "oil cooled" stuff. The oil is there to lubricate the bearing not to cool it
It's like saying the engine has oil in it to keep it cool.

it does both, oil also helps the engine lose excess heat..

The terminology should be "water cooled" or "non-water cooled" not "oil cooled" or "water cooled".
I think saying "oil cooled" in regard to the turbo is misleading that's all.

Yes the bottom of the piston crown is sprayed with oil to help cool it. That's for cooling purposes only.

yeh it explains it more when you say it like that...yeh sorry...what i meant is it is non-water cooled... the JBs were though....is that how supposibly they got 5kw more than the JA....ive read articles saying that the JA had 120kw...an the JB was the one that came with 125kw...
