Something weird for you, and yes it is relevant.

6.30AM this morning I installed my cut air can, with the old almost black dirty filter.

Suprisingly it started, but here's the weird bit. Its been sitting for 2 weeks, it was a frost (would of been like 5 degrees max), I was in warm clothing and was freezing my nuts off.

Turn the key and it starts, ON THE FIRST COMPRESSION STROKE, no turn turn start, just start! Idle went straight to 1500rpm, and idled perfectly.

are u trying to make me jealous? :x

before this *wierd* event, did u ever have starting problems? or idle problems for that matter?

hehe i treid the *full throttle* start when its in the afternoon and the car has already been on for the day.. it starts better.. still spits a bit of black smoke, but not as much as it did when i was flooding it.. :wtf:

it sounds like my injectors then.. should i even consider getting them pressure cleaned or get 2nd hand ones that worked?

Well I work as a contractor from home. So I work when I want.

I have the tendancy of staying up all night and sleeping all day.

I was meant to install the air can the day before, however I woke up at 8PM and it was dark, so stayed up all night as usual, then when the sun came out at 6AM I was outside with that toolkit straight away.

I was freezing my nuts in honour of New Zealand's National Nude Day of course :D yes we have one, yes people get nekkid, no I wasnt really nekkid.

I think your problem is injectors, but just wanted to say that cutting my air can, actually made the car easier to start and idle smoothly.

However in saying that its probably more likely to be me moving the air flow sensor wires around etc

No more lumpy idle, starting is instant, and no stink of unburnt gas.

ProZac, yeah i go to swinburne in melbourne.. thats y it takes me so long to get a problem fixed.. no money :( but i love my car

SpidersWeb, do you have injector problems too? i already put in a cut air can, and to me it makes no difference at all.. maybe its because the exhaust is already doing such a good job i dont feel any increase in torque, no easier revs, no induction noises..

im glad to hear something good about your car for a change.. :beer hopefully i can tell you good things about my car some time soon.. :D

oh yeah and ProZac, i forgot to mention i had a 93' 180sx just after my uncles black JA, and right before my white JB..

catch was, and still is, my mum lent me almost all of the money for both cars.. i borrowed 10k (rest was mine) off her for the 180sx, but that particular one had too many problems, so i had to sell it and gave her back 10k.. :(

same deal with the starion.. borrowed almost all of if for it.. i only had enough to cover insurance and rego

Same deal here except, the Starion is my 180SX (e.g. too many things wrong with it, I should really just buy another one), and I do not have enough money for rego or insurance.

Not a problem since I can't get a rego without my WOF pass, and I never got a proper license so I can't get insurance on any car, let alone a 2L Turbo! I might do my license next week hmm

I am just very careful not to hit anyone, and if I did I would sell stuff to pay for the repairs - cause I know there is nothing worse than being hit by a wank without insurance.

Bugger all.

The SOHC head seems to give the car good fuel economy, it uses almost half what my non-turbo 16v Galant does. Especially on the open road.

Ham->Auckland=>Ham = $20 starion = $40+ Galant VX-S

Both cars weight 1260kg, both are 4G63 engines

Try replacing the igniter block, ( that black thing near the coil )
I went mad with my JB for 2 days, would start and drive and then stop, then wouldn't start, wait for a bit and it would go again. Then it would not go for 2 days, wait for cold weather, and start straight away. I pulled the spark plugs out and had a spark, I pulled out the injectors and had them spraying around the workshop. Turned out to be the igniter box, when I had the plugs out it would spark. But when put back in, the spark was too weak to start it.
Hope this helps.
Cordia's have the same Igniter box for a JB.
Forget going to Mitsubishi, there around $900.
