Mate MOST likely your switch is foocked.
need a replacement.

Try turning them ON,
The turn them OFF and "lightly" and slowly push the ON button to see if it make contact to pop them down. If this fails you'll need a replacement bottom assembly.

Cheers

Also try unplugging all the wiring harness connectors and drown them in contact cleaner.

If you want them down use the manual
control under the light first(turn the nod)
they should (all things equil) go down
into the auto reset position.

Be careful doing that as the light may suddenly decide to go down by itself and might take your fingers with it.

To be on safe side you can pull out the fuse for the lights from the fusebox and wind them down manually.

Mine stopped tonight too! I went back out to the car an hour later to get something and decided to flcik the lights on and off. Hey presto, they went back down when I turned it off. :D

I know exactly what the problem is, as I've had it before. The harness to the lights/pop up motor get grotty due to cumulative dirty weekends of motorsport.

So I'll "contact clean" the connectors just under the front lights and that'll fix it.
Marc, I'd also suggest doing the same, as well as checking the harnesses for broken wires - 'cause that'll do the same thing... :o
Reduce fuel costs by 15-20% & cut emissions by 1/3rd...
Increase engine performance & prolong engine life...
