would the head of a non turbo be the same as a turbo one i know the cams are diffrent? iam asking this because i can get a twin cam engine out of a elantra and it would not be a turbo but i would make it so iam wondering if the head had the same size ports as the turbo ones(eclipse turbo and vr4 galant).
Also witch engine would fit in a starion the one´s with a 6 or 7 flywheel?

Even if you get the 6 bolt engine (Starion 6 bolt) the gearbox is different. However the VR4 style twin cam head will bolt on to your bottom end. You need the extra pully and bracket but if you get a whole engine you should have everything you need. Also you need to install the 4 valve pistons (not sure if you have to use the conrods as well). The only real difference with the engines were the "narrow" style block and of course the full bearing plate on the main bearings. There are some posts somewhere on here about all this. I think the turbo and non turbo heads are pretty much the same but the inlet manifolds are a bit different. The cams are probably different and the exhaust valves may be made of different material.
Anyhow someone who has actually done this conversion may add to this.
Be aware there is a later type 4G63 (narrow block) 16 valve SINGLE cam head engine but the block and head is quite a bit different and won't fit.

VR4 conrods are very strong, and comparable to forged parts. I'd move these with the pistons :)
I don't think using the N/A head is a good idea, its not designed to flow the air pushed by a turbo to start with, and dunno how strong the insides are either, since they're not designed for turbo application (valve springs etc)
Strangley on another note, the NA intake manifold is considered an upgrade for the Turbo motor as it was higher flowing for some reason.
So manifolds can be swapped over, I'm not aware of any different layouts. The pipe widths vary as the 88-92 Galant VR4 head is designed for high flow, but bolts should be in the same place.
There are heaps and heaps of posts regarding the twin cam conversion, have a search and a read, lots of discussions and info on here about it :)
Not one of the easiest things to do tho

ok so the bottom end sould be the same so if i will be rebulding a n/a motor and use parts that suit turbo applications i would do thid because i can get a n/a motor cheap here in iceland but if i would get a turbo motor i would have to get it from the us. So i think i sould get a n/a twin cam engine and get pistons and rods that would suit turbo´s and than a turbo head or get other springs and valves for a n/a one

That is actually what i'm also thinking of doing.
I have a spare starion bottom end and I recently got me a galant GTI engine
I was thinking about getting new pistons that are suitable for turbo.
Though i'm not sure yet if i'll make a adapter to fit the starion gearbox to the galant engine or just swap everything to the starion bottom end
As far as I've been able to figure out so far. the only differences in the engines between a GTI and Turbo 4g63 are:
Pistons & cams
The rest looks pretty much the same.
I compared both heads and could not find any differances.
And as far as I can remember the mitsu parts catalog also has the same part numbers for the heads & springs
But i'd have to check that.
