Check your vac advance its under your dissy. blow into vacuum hose that's going to the vac advance, if you can blow though it then is most likely stuffed also try sucking on it then use your tongue to block off the hose to see if it holds pressure if it doesn't then its stuffed

Ive had that sort of problem happen to me a cuple of times now an the first time was because the cam timeing had skiped a tooth an was runn retarted all the time.

Then I've had problems with the map sensor playing up or just not maping but that just aventualy shit its self an shut the engine down. (unpluged the map sensor an made it home) an now with a another map sensor in has been really good for a few months an then the alsternator went to ground an earthed out an just fried everthing. thatnks to me older brother. so now i think I've trashed another map sensor.lol (aftermaket time)

yep yours will have (should have) a map sensor located above the brake booster, mounted on a plate on the firewall. will have a round multi pin connecter and a vacuum line running out of it. symptoms sound like map sensor disease, mitsubishi actually called it a boost sensor as that is its main function, it will mainly make the car run excessively rich when not under boost if its playin up, tho will affect operation on boost aswell but not as much. that`d also explain why its better when cold, if its running rich the engine wont b affected as much by the prob when its cold. c if u can find a mate with a ja that can swap his map sensor onto yours temporarily 2 c if thats the problem. only a 5 minute operation saves a lot of fkn around!!

the maps sensor is located right above the master cylinder an to the right a fraction. it's a rectangular box with an air line running to it an has a round wireing pin conector(6or8 wire's). I don't know if there is any special way to confirm there not working, what ive done in the past is have the car at an idle an then disconected the wires in do that is should change the idle speed an even stall. If dose that then it may some thing an the map sensor should be working I bit rough but it all I've got.

if u took it off and it made no difference then thats gotta be at least part of the problem if not it entirely! dont know what checks u can do on it, myself and everyone else i`ve talked 2 that plays with these cars regularly has a test unit thats known 2 be ok that they just plug in and test drive. so c if u can borrow 1 off a mate temporarily....

DASH engines don't use a vac advance because the computer controls the ignition timing and they don't have a MAP sensor because... well I don't know why.
