Nxtime is correct. EVO I-III turbo will bolt straight on.

i have seen an evo3 turbo on a starion manifold, but the holes in the ehhaust flange didnt quite clear the threads on the manifold studs... very easy fix however, just drill the holes out slightly larger.

The TD05H 16G EVO 1-3 turbo can produce over 200rwkw and is a great turbo for those who want decent power and good spool. It would be my choice for a quick daily street car.

T04B Turbo

Post by zaidja83 »

Okay.....so the td05h-16g is the recomended way to go.

What about the t04b tubo????

What are the good and bad things on this for a Starion???? I hear it can easily handle 25psi and produce 500+ hp.

Are those prices in $AUD? If so, they are very good.

Which TD05-16G is it as there are two different ones. Do you have a part number?

As for TO4B or E turbos, they come in different sizes and configurations, so the performance will vary. They ill require either a new custom exhaust manifold and oil (and water) lines plus a new dump pipe. They are really suited to modded engines. What are the specs on the one you have been quoted?

How much power and what are you after with your engine?

Yes it in AUD

Post by zaidja83 »

Yes it is in AUD. It's coming from MAROUBRA NSW.

I would like to paste some pics on here but I don't know how. Can some tell us how?

Anyway, There is nothing wrong with my engine at the moment.
I am just collecting good bits for when the time comes for me to do a rebuild.

The car is used every day for work. So I guess all I want in regards to power from this factory intercooled JA engine is.....not sure.....to get my heart pumping from the adrenalin rush. Rush from the Torque.

Ahh yeah. Those ones. That TD05 is supposed to be from an Evo 8. They are advertised on ebay all the time (and not just from Maroubra now). The TO4E is a Garrett rip off and is not BB.

the small 16g, big 16g and evoIII 16g are all different turbos.
I've seen at least 3 guys in the us swap between ev0 16 vs others and confirmed the performance.
http://www.slowboyracing.com/ and http://www.forcedperformance.net/ outline the turbo difference
Can't bolt the vr4/evo turbine housing to a starion exhaust manifold. It has threaded holes (needs drilling plus one is 'blind') which are slightly off the staz stud pattern, and you'd have to make a new downpipe with the vr4 style divorced wastegate port.
When running vr4 based td05 turbos, I just get the starion 12a-td05 turbine housing machined to accept their bigger tdo5 wheel.
DSM guys have all reported boost creep problems with the evo3, if running a 3" exhaust. Some solved it with wastegate hole porting. The fastest evo3 guy I've seen, just made sure his motor can handle the 25psi. He says hes not sure he even wants to 'fix' his creep problem.
Creep may be worst with the starion hsg + 3" exhaust - porting will tell.

T04B can deliver the goods if u run the 'right' wheels. You may have to go external wastegate, unless u have that type of housing ?
T04b/t3 hybrids are very popular/ common, proven turbos with vast configurations to suit whatever power characteristics u want. Heck, u can get new garret technology hybrids with internal wastegates, good to 500whp+ for ~$700usd. This guy runs one.
