IMPORT vs AUS MANIFOLD (with pic)

Post by tri26t »

HEY GUYS I was just comparing an AUSSIE JA manifold
with a (I SUSSPECT) Import manifold, WOW what a differance
the two have ?, JA aussie spec has bloody shithouse small runners
but this could give greater fuel speed the and jap item has monster ones, "WHAT UP WITH THAT" ??.
Now to be objective about this im gonna need someone who has used
both of them on the same car to tell me if they have found any differance
between the two ?.
Cheers:Phil.

manifold

Post by tri26t »

hey again, the manifold has 6 screws around the injector hat
and is monsterabley bigger in TBI internal area, the injectors
are 26mm lower in the tbi and the air comming in is via a bolt on
50mm (round) hole.the hole that the 50mm round hole bolts to is about
360mm wide by 45mm high. the top of the tbi hat has ECI just like the
JA and also has mitsubishi motor corp around that.
yes it was on a JA (same injectors) and it went pretty hard, so I thought
I may as well try it on mine.
Come on guys someone knows where it came from, however this is the only one Ive ever seen.
how about some inject van had it but it has the same fuel reg as a turbo.
Cheers again Phil.

Ive had two different sets of JA design inlet manifolds. One with smaller injectors (1982) one with larger injectors (1985) - both were the Japaense ECI units. They do not have any bolt on circular connection for the air pipe, they're the same as the Aus models.

The 1985 one I had was weird though. It had JB injectors in the JA design. This was factory. Both 4 screws on the injector hat, neither said Mitsubishi Motors (just ECI). One was black, the 85 with the larger injectors was red.

Unless yours come from a very late model import, it sounds custom to me. Although Ive never compared the size of the runners. My import ones are large but Ive never seen an Aus one to compare.

black as

yep this one is painted black as well, the rich lean screw faces up
and is level with the top of the tbi. it has no dash pot,

I hope this answers some of the Q`s[/img]

Weird.

My ECI caps didn't look like that, and yeah I can see the injector plate/hat is lower. Ill grab a pic of mine (82 Jap) and post it up.

I think you may just have something rare there.

I dont think its an AUS vs Import thing, as ive taken apart a few jap import manifolds, and they have all been pretty much the same internally, see http://prozac.orcon.net.nz/eciguide/rebuild.html for pictures.

hmmm

Post by tri26t »

hi prozac, I have done a rebuild on a tbi and it wasnt too bad,
it was the same as the one in your rebuild story
The staz that this came out of has a jap rear number plate holder
the green zone on the boost guage starts at zero not 0.5 it has a
picture of a fog light-or- high beam on the spare(middle) switch
under the head light up switch (not the lights on switch)
that`ll do 4now
cheers:Phil.
