Axle tramp problems? Scorpion

I dont know if im on the right track or not, so someone please feel free to correct me. For those who dont know its Gav;s old scorpion

Scenario is i went to the drags, best time i could crack was a 14.2 @ 106mph (pretty crap considering its got 225+ rwkw). Car has 4.6 welded centre, factory springs, munroe shocks, new 195 tyres @ 20psi.

Problems: Car was badly jumping over the track, couldnt get power down at all until mid way through 3rd, take off's were horrible. Now from what ive read its referred to as axle tramp. What can i do to help the problem? I have the old lowered (read low but also chopped king) springs, would it help if i threw them in to see if they helped?

It was pretty fierce kind of jumping, had to really hold on, then snapped an axle when i hit 2nd after about the 4th run.

are scorpions irs or live axle?

my old xa falcon had tha same problem, i ended up having to get anti-tramp bars fitted... wasnt cheap either. dunno if you can fit them to an irs setup.

but my times dropped from high 13s to 13 flat... never managed to crack a 12 tho...

I have the same problem in my staz, especially in the wet. I have broken a uni joint because of it. The cause is the rear shocks. Mine are rooted and even if they worked properly they are not good enough for the k-mac springs i have in there. You can possibly reduce the problem by raising the rear a little, so it doesnt squat down as far when it grips (being the reason why it bounces back up when it loses traction).
Otherwise have a look at your shocks.

Guys car is live axle with linkage setup thus tramp bars won't work. My 2c is that shocks could be the problem but I'd first replace the bushes with nolathane. It's commonly suggested to only replace one end of the suspension arm with nolathane and leave one in rubber (but make sure it's still good).
Otherwise speak to a good suspension place & see what they recomend.

Do not race your car if & when it tramps. You will break a lot of things (I've seen blokes break billet 9" axles due to tramp)
