Boost Cutting - Help

Post by LxS »

I know this has been discussed before, but does anyone know which wire to cut on the computer (on a JA 1982 starion) to stop it from boost cutting.

I have been told 2 different things, Yellow and Yellow White.

Or better yet, does anyone have a wiring diagram for the computer?

Thanks,
Alexis

I have a JA wiring diagram in front of me and it shows a yellow wire going from the boost sensor to pin A-17 on the computer...

14 pounds not enough Lxs?

Is your cooler hooked up?

On a standard motor I think you are flaunting with danger running over 1 bar, but hey, that's just me.

its 100% the yellow wire..cut it on mine...but its not worth it.... once u cut it, it will stop the boost cut but it wont respond as well

you're right, the best way to do it is with a fuel cut defender, you have to feed the ECU some signal or it won't drive the injectors properly under boost even up to and below 7psi, it can be done, just hook up a multimeter to the yellow wire and ground, measure the voltage at max boost, then get a zener diode to clamp it at that level... so this way the ECU will still supply the correct fuel right up to cut off, after that you are on your own.. remember too lean & you risk the motor..

Thanks for all the advise guys (and pic TD05)

I am happy with the 14 pounds, thats not the problem, it's when I push the car in this weather it's cutting and doesnt feel that great (kinda feels like your going to knock teeth out)

And yes Al, the cooler is hooked up!

Ben, I'm interested, what are the drawbacks (if any) in doing this ?? does it affect driveability at all???
