It's a canister control valve

Post by jakobsladderz »

That's the valve that controls whether fuel vapour is sucked from the carbon canister into the intake system or not, depending on the pressure in the manifold, throttle position, etc. Usefull if you want your car to be roadworthy, etc, otherwise not particularly important to the running of the engine.

it's called a PURGE VALVE, as in purge the fuel tank vapours.
not having one in the land of oz can earn you a large fine.
anyway, the fuel vapours are good stuff octane wise (i beleive), so better use then in the motor. besides, you paid for them! use them.

How much is it worth

Post by WANTSOM »

let me just say I have 4 very large boxes of parts -

1 is useful stuff for track car
1 is useful stuff for Maries car
1 is useful stuff that is worth something or is rare and people might want
the last one is worthless stuff that I keep for WTF reasons.

Its in the last box. :beer

Follow the advice, use it to stay legal and Merlins advice that it can help.

Cheers
Greg

The purge valve is useful in assisting cold starts. U should leave it on.
