Injector Repair

Post by 4g6beat »

Hey guys my injectors (JB) are leaking from the plug so i'm assuming they're finished but i just wanted to double check there's no way to repair them before i go hunting for injectors.

Is there any way to repair injectors leaking from the plug?? i'm assuming seleys no more gaps is a silly idea :D or are there any other injectors (ie: easier to find) that i could use as a replacement?

I've changed the orings but my cars still leaking like theres no tommorow and is unsafe to drive hehehe i'm amazed it hasn't become a firebal yet considering all the wiring on that side of the engine bay

O-rings!!!

Post by David »

Seriously, if you have replaced the O-rings, there is no way they should leak. I suspect you have used O-rings that are not suitable. Or there may be damage to the head. Get some 8mm larger size *rubber diameter* O-rings.

You can use other injectors, but you'll have a hard time finding big enough injectors, and unless you want to add extra hardware to extend the injector timing pulse, or otherwise adjust the vehicls sensor output, then you are in trouble and would still need an aftermarket ECU.

You can just get replacement injectors. There are a few floating around at the moment (i just went througjh the process) but you'll still need to replace the O-rings, and if an injector dies, it just doesn't do anything - leaking past the plug is not normal under any circumstances.

Thanks for your,
I replaced the orings yesterday arvo and it stills seems like it's leaking a lot bellow the plasic plug i used the exact same size ring however i noticed when using my mates injector cleaner that there was indeed bubling and leaking bellow the plastic is there anyway to stop this or take the injector apart and replace the seal with the plastic plug inside? I noticed the injecors now are only leaking from below the plug as oposed to before where it was all a big mess everywhere.

cheers

Injector leak and new o-rings. Standard ones work when the car is new but you need something bigger now it's old.

you'll find that it looks like the plastic is leaking, but it may be really leaking past the O rings, there's a lot of fuel pressure so if the rings arent sealing it'll leak, slowly and look like it's coming from the injector itself.

Thanks,
Yeah i was thinking that too but when i hooked it up on the injector tester it was leaking from below the plastic ring but above the ring it was perfectly dry, ( no orings on injector test just hooks up to a hose) dry so i just assumed the injector was crap) hmmm maybe i'll check it one more time and look for that :)
