Newbie here, I am running a 8V SOHC 4G63 turbo from a Starion in my Westfield kit car:
Trying to tidy up the car and fix up some reliability problems at the moment - it is being stripped back to the chassis and everything cleaned up/replaced before going back on.
Last weekend I took off the valve cover and noticed the oil drain ports in the head do not line up very well with the block? Is this normal or do I have the wrong head for my block?
Awesome that does make me feel a bit better! Your pic pretty much matches what I am seeing.. I had assumed these holes should be lining up but seems like they are like that from factory!
Only other thing I noticed was that my camshaft bearing cap has some cracking marks on it, trying to work out if they are just from the casting or real cracks... anyone seen this before?
Thats just casting flash... Don't worry about it. As for the Front bolt, use impact air gun! Remember to tension it back up when you put it back on!!!! This is most important. :beer
I've tried my impact but the whole crank ends up wanting to rotate... the engine is up on the stand so I cant really clamp onto the flywheel or anything... I'll take it off the stand on the weekend, bolt the flywheel back on and have another crack at it I reckon!
Put the flywheel back on........make a bracket that runs from one of the clutch threads to the edge of a gearbox/block mounts.........crankshaft nut will be removed without the use of air tools.
