Electricity is black magic to me
But I would have checked all fuses and the main fuseable link near the battery and the connections to the starter and the main earth.
Sorry I can't be more helpful. :(

Thanks guys. Nothing at all when key is turned. Fusible link was the first thing I checked and it is fine. By-passed it and still nothing. No loose wires on starter motor. Any fuse control this ?

Time to get the multimeter out I think. If you remove the trim below the steering wheel you should get access to a large plug from the back of the ignition barrel. Check on there for 12v.

Check all fusible links too, the ones in the metal box next to the battery too. The ECI one is just for the injection system. What you have sounds like no power reaching ignition switch.

Its quite easy to take the ignition barrel apart as well if you suspect that is the problem. Somewhere on the starquestclub there is a link to that professor quest who shows taking one apart and cleaning it up.

Have you checked the aux fusible links over by the air-box aswell? They're just floating, no mounts or anything. They connect the alternator loom (and thus battery) to the fusebox and ignition switch.

Just remembered I had an issue with this on a S2 JA I had. The connection to the ignition coil near the fuselink was the culprit.
Check for loose connections around there. Or is the coil stuffed?
Imports.

Does the coil have a condenser as they used to fail in my old cars .

Problem solved. Somehow and I have no idea how the plug at the end of the ignition wires became unplugged. Weird. All good now.
