Going mpi on 8v sohc
Hi, Im after info on going multipoint on my SOHC 4g63, I know its been covered heaps of times but im after actual info on what's needed.
I've already got a haltech ps1000 I can use.. So far the what I can think is:
l300 manifold, evo top feed injectors and associated tps, idle speed motor, fuel rail, modded fuel lines, throttle cable, fuel pump (already have a bosch 070) optical dizzy, coil setup, intercooler piping.. wire in ecu etc
what else am I missing?

I used only the bottom 1/2 of the L333 mani with a custom runners and plenum.Iwould recommend you get a HG HH Gallant MPI IM instead. There are heaps of Hyundai manifolds that are the same as the early Sonatas had Mitsubishi motors. The TB will have to be reversed and it will be better for the intercooler pipework.
I've had mine since 03 07 92

I have the Sonata MPI setup on my car too and it's heaps easy to plumb the cooler piping to and it looks relatively standard with the ECI MULTI written on it as we'll as the rocker cover. Cooler piping is a lot easier and pretty short on mine. Only issue I have with it is the water outlet is at the back of the motor instead of the front. I don't like this as the motor wasn't designed to flow like this and may cause partial overheating and head warpage under extreme conditions. Not sure if you can bolt the sonata plenum to the L300 runners but would be good if you could.

I've got some injectors that will suit MPI conversion:

Also, when modifying the sonata/galant/rvr manifolds to have the throttlebody on the right end, its important to make sure the distributor can still be easily installed and removed. I mucked it up on the first one I did and you have to remove the manifold to fit or remove the dizzy. Pain in the ass!
I also have a set of 550cc rx7 injectors for sale, so now you have a choice of 450s, 550s or 650s lol

I have some 800's for sale

Twin spray pintle caps are awesome for the twin-cam 16V motors, they direct the fuel directly ontop of the valve. In a SOHC setup, where the injector is a little further up the runner they spray the fuel at the runner walls. The engine will still run, but it compromises the tip-in acceleration enrichment and the decel de-enrichment. Basically makes the fuel mixture lag behind what the injectors are actually doing, as the fuel coating the runner and port walls acts as a reservoir.
I've seen it twice at work now, and both times swapping to a single spray cap made a pretty big difference to driveability.
The same is true in the other direction, running a single spray cap injector in a twin-cam motor, spraying directly at the divider between the ports causes the same issues.

How would you go about changing the spray caps on 560cc evo injectors? My car is tuned pretty rich and I want to get a re tune after I get an exhaust and fix a few little things, and I now I'm going to look into this too, I didn't realise it would be an issue but worth looking into

Definitely worth the bother in that situation. I've got a set of 560's that have had it done already, for my own MPI conversion.
As to the actual process, it's not really possible to remove the old caps without destroying them (without an expensive tool, anyway). Installing the new ones doesn't look too hard, although I've never personally done it.
