JB doughy throttle and missing just off idle...
...and the last few days the car has been running rough and idling like a POS too.
I noticed one of the throttle body gaskets looked like it was leaking and I could certainly smell it, so a couple of nights ago I cut a new one and fitted it to the manifold side of the TB. The upper one may still be leaking as I wasn't able to replace it in the short time I had, nor was I able to undo the philips head screws even after freeze spray and brute force.
So questions, how else car I undo the screws? Electric drill?
And is this likely to be my problem or is it going to be something else?
Note, I'm haven't been having any starting issues, as typical with leaking injectors, until now that is. It still starts pretty easy but I've got to keep the revs up once it starts.

The two big main screws holding the top on the TB? They were really tough on mine. I had it all off on concrete ground and tried many bits to feel which one fitted best and used a 45degree screwdriver and used all my weight and turned at same time. When it didn't turned or felt like rounding the head, I used another screwdriver to give it some whacks with a hammer. I think I was probably lucky to get them out.

Check that you aren't sucking air between the air cleaner & the turbo due to leaking or cracked turbo inlet pipe.enthuzed wrote:...and the last few days the car has been running rough and idling like a POS too.
No, I don't any spares, in fact I'm looking for one myself.
Cheers, panda

Okay, spent some time on this and no joy yet.
It was running so badly I thought I might have lost the HG again.
So I checked the compression and they were all around 150 with less than 7% difference between them! Very happy about that.
Rotor button and dizzy cap got replaced - no difference
Swapped out the spark plugs with some that were 10,000kays old to see what that would do - no difference
Checked the spark lead resistance (Bosch Super Sports) and checked them against some other ones lying around. As these were all the lowest I put them back on.
Used CO2 contact cleaner on the injector wiring all the round wiring plugs - no difference
May swap with some Top Gun leads that I've checked.
In my travels I found a hose in the middle of three on the manifold, connected to fresh air. But I could not find where it is supposed to connect. It's about 15 to 20cm long - does anyone know where it belongs?

Okay, so new leads and plugs (plugs not fitted yet) and high dose injector clean and the thing started to run a little better. I tried a set of NGK leads for something different, dunno if they're any good but I tested the resistance of each lead with a multimeter before I left Bursons!
The solution however was injectors, and luckily I had some JB ones!
I've still got the smell as the seals aren't working as well as they should despite cleaning all parts and seals meticulously and swapping in the best seals.
Does anyone know how to rejuvinate seals? Or where to get replacements?
And still don't know where that middle hose of the three on the TB belongs... ideas???

For TBI stuff see my first post here:

There is a guy in US that sells the bits to rebuild, but I think Prozac also had a post about which seals to buy so you may want to go that route if you only need a couple.
The middle pipe, could be cruise control, map sensor or EGR valve. Just have a look and trace things. Failing that the manual must have a diagram.

Thanks popup and Zac, yes the vac advance is still connected. There is a hose and it's only about 20cm long. I'll recheck the EGR valve. Good tip kiwi, you are on the money re JB. I'll see what the story is with that part number.

You want throttle body shaft seals? Here you go!
http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/inde ... pic=134930
That guy used to supply the full throttle body rebuild kits but has stopped.
He should give you advice on where to buy the kit OR go on ebay.
I don't think those upper shaft seals are included in the kit though. They were added to the kit!

Thanks KiwiES & Mal for your help too.
I called Mitsubishi, there are no injector o-ring kits in Australia & of course they told me NLA. Yes, no longer available. Where to turn now?
