Is it possible to buy these 3 parts new?

Post by Aero-R »

A friend of mine with a 4G63T SOHC widebody is looking for 3 parts: brake pump, water pump and starter engine (I don't know if those are the english terms but I hope that's understandable).

He wants to buy them new if possible. Do you think those are parts I'll be able to buy new for him (doesn't matter the country in the world) or you suggest me to create a thread in this forum for 2nd hands units?

I've found some water pumps out there but I've heard the one mounted in the narrowbody isn't exactly the same than the widebody one (this one has an auxiliar conduct or hole, I heard something like that). Any suggestion for shops or whatever that have these 3 parts new, will be more than welcome!

Thanks in advance :]

I am not sure what fits whats between the wide and narrow body cars. here is some links that may help you:

Brand new starter motor for the car from Ebay;
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/STARTER-MOTO ... 0544886354
for the 1982-1987 2lt 4g63t.

I thought my starter motor was fucked and I fixed it myself. The wiring in the old car had gone bad. The same problem was with my alternator.
I replaced 2 wires on the starter, and the main 2 gauge wire to my alternator. Look into isolating the issue to be 100% sure it isnt that. Also, buy a multi-meter.

Also, contact "Vuples". He is having a parts clear out. He has 3 Starions and might have a part you need. Here's a link to his sale post;

I know he has a JA Starion because I asked him about JA starion parts. other than that, it cannot hurt to try.

Also, it is possible to custom fit/modify an after market a water pump if your good at altering shit. Seen it done on my mates MX5 Turbo. Just got to make sure you can hookup/splice in the electrical part.
Probably best to stick with the same model brake pump, but maybe there is an after market version for the model.

I hope I was helpful :)

Doesn't matter if it's narrow or widebody, it's the engine that will determine the bits to use.
Brake pump? Do you mean brake master cylinder (that has brake lines coming from it) or brake booster (big black circle thing)

Do the existing parts have part numbers? If so, should be easy to find replacements. Failing that, take pictures and our pooled resources here should be able to figure it out.

surely there's a supply of 4G63 parts closer in Europe? Plenty of Starions and Galants in the UK which use the same pump.. even the L200/Triton pick up truck/ute.

First of all, thank you everybody. I'm very surprissed with the big and great support in this forum. I thought that facts like on english these parts get terms I don't know (I just know the terms in spanish), or that my Starion is a wide one (I think in Australia the wide wasn't sold) would be handicaps. But at the end of the day these difficulties are smaller than I though. Thanks, really.

Thanks Bruzman. I've e-mailed him : )

About the starter, unfortunately it's set for being sold in eBay AU only, so not international shippment, but I've found some units in eBay international. 3 different models in fact. One of them, the most expensive, has the Mitsubishi logo on it, so I guess that if my friend wants realiability he would have to buy that one.

Yes I know but somehow there are different things between those models, at least in the units that arrived to Spain. For example the ECU is different in the widebody (I mean a 4G63 widebody, I'm not talking about a G54B). Water pump seems different too.

I'll ask him this as soon as possible, thanks for letting me know Alspos!
Thanks JJH. Seems this is a list of the part numbers of the stock Starion parts? (the one that came with the car from factory). It's strange because in the Starion parts all I've seen start with a "MD" isn't it? Sorry I'm a bit lost hehe

Yes I can redzone, because in fact I've a NEW one (I bought it from Mitsubishi Dealer long time ago paying a fortune, to see later than in eBay they are at 90€ or below!). So, I can give you pictures of my original Mitsubishi one I bougth (for when I've finished rebuilding my engine). I've took a few pictures, here you've mate, original unit code MD997613 (I don't know if AISIN is the manufacturer): http://imageshack.us/g/205/imgp1399f.jpg/

We've a Mitsubishi dealer here, but unfortunately there are lot of parts that are not in stock anymore (even not in Japan, because they order directly from there). For example there are interior parts that I'm looking for (the plastic that surrounds the radio, or the plastic that covers the hose of the rear seat belts near the rear speakers) that are not in stock anymore. Same for pistons, head of the engine, and so on. For example I've been looking also for the center caps of the alloy wheels and it was impossible.

Thanks mate. Well, if not possible to find the genuine one I guess he'll go aftermarket one (I just was wondering if was possible to find the genuine one).

I've searched on their catalog but I don't see Starion in the Mitsubishi part of their catalog, neither something similar (the oldest car they've listed for water pumps in that section is a 95-99 ECLIPSE).

Have you tried a local mitsu dealer?
Here in The Netherlands I can still order most "wear" parts new.
You just need to find one that still has the old system (CAPS or maybe even microfiches) and willing to look up the correct part number.
If your able to find the part number yourself you can also just ask them to just order that part.

Some are not even that expensive, retaining the original price from years ago..
