UPDATE Still need Help !! How do u reset Distributor/Timing?
Hi everyone,
Well I pulled it out to get my head pressure tested and then put in to only find out it won't crank over :roll:
Anyhow, so I find out that I need to set the timing right......
But I don't have a timing light, so I find out the way to do it is something like this
Set engine at TDC, then set distrutor rotor point pointing to a specific lip on the base but I can't find this damn lip so q is, where do I point pointy part of the rotor when the engine is at TDC ?
Just to get is started and to the closest mechanic to reset the timing a bit better !

Oh Dear, 1st, Engine to TDC COMPRESSION STROKE !, both valve shut.
2nd your dissy cap will have #1 on cap this is #1 Clyinder,( as Al said 8 o'clokk)
3Rd point rotar at this tower, then rotate engine back 20deg, then forward to 10 deg BTDC, yhen align the tips on the pick up with the magnet ring pick ups.
4Th, put rotor and cap on , plug leads starting at #1, then #3 ( in clockwise direction) then #4 then #2.
5. start engine and check with timing light. :beer

And here > plug leads starting at #1, then #3 ( in clockwise direction) then #4 then #2.........why like this ?

that the fireing order on a starion, 1,3,4,2. Yes thats what i meant the tip of the rotating mass with the tip of the reluctor.hopr this helps. :beer

And align the tips on the pick-up with the magnet ring pick ups, can you explain this part a bit more indepth please, I got myself a timing light but its no use unless i get the engine to start.
It almost started like, after me cranking, it would keep cranking itself for a bit but then stopped, almost like coughing sort off.

Thanks Al for the input, toysrus this will help, but once you have it in on the shaft of the dissy there is a 4 star looking piece( YES? nod head) on the dissy body there is 3 vertical post pointing up ( yes?, nod head) rotate the body to alaign these with the teeth on 4 star on shaft. the reason i got you to rotare engine back from TDC and then back to 10Deg BTDC was to take up any slack in teeth and 10deg BTDC is where your car will start, you will then be able to time with light. If you have no joy or cant work it out, send me your e-mail address and i will return PICS of what i mean. BTW, you do still have the STD computer/injection system don't you?, as WOLF requires the dissy to be static setup at 78deg BTDC. :beer
