couple of quick fuel pump related questions

1: any particular size/type of fitting i need to replace the stock starion pump ?

2:i wanna get a walbro 255lph pump, should i do external or internal?

3:is it worth putting in a surge tank?

I just put a bosch 044 in mine. runs great. no mods to fit it. If you're gonna use a 044 buy the fittings to go with it. I got mine off Ebay without the fittings and it cost me $58 extra for the barbed fitting.

I'm also running a 044, they're an excellent pump that can support a heap of HP.

You hear good and bad things about the Walbros, I think they're in the same boat as the Bosch pumps.....if you buy a genuine pump, they're fine. But there's HEAPS and I mean HEAPS of cheap copies out there. A lot of people don't even realise they own a cheap copy.

What you do with the car will determine if you need a surge tank. If its mainly a street car you wont need one. Even if you take the car to the track now and then you wont really need one as you can avoid fuel starvation by running more than half a tankfull.

so how do i know if the pump is genuine. don't really wanna travel to auckland from whangarei just to buy a fuel pump but all the ones on trademe are *GENUINE* which pretty much guarantees that they are crap. unless there is a way to tell? or even better, unless someone knows who to buy from?

I got mine from an online store based in Qld. I cross referenced the pump number with what Repco supply. There is no real way to tell if it is genuine until you get it. Mine came in a yellow box with bosch printed in red all over it. Also the pump has " Made in Czech Republic" stamped on it.

I'm running a factory FPR but I don't see any harm using an after market one if that's the way you want to go. Get a rising rate one if you can. As for the pump I just replaced my buggered factory one with the 044.
