NO Start

Post by tony45 »

Hi there ,
I have a 2 litre ,year 1982 starion ,english spec. won't start ,I found out by removing the injector top housing, that, when turning on ignition without turning the engine over both the injectors weep fuel , on turning engine over, it does spray out of one injector which I think is normal,
If I disconnect the injector electric multiplug the injectors stop weeping. Can someone please give me advice as this message is from the south east of England and it's freezing standing in my garage ! :?

Where is it weeping fuel from? The centre of the injector or around the sides?
How long has the car been sitting etc? Leaking injectors shouldn't stop it from starting, it will make it run like crap when it does.
Got spark etc?

P.S. Welcome aboard. 39 C predicted here today :D

Not Starting

Post by tony45 »

Hi Alspos,
The leak is from the centre of the injectors, when ignition just turned on, but turned over before to pressurize system.
With ignition still On and disconnecting injector electrical plug ,leak stops , so as the fuel is still under pressure I have assumed the problem is not injectors.

ps.I called out the RAC which is a breakdown service here in UK , after he messed about with it and couldn't start it , the next day I dipped the engine oil , (overfall) I drained engine oil/petrolin it, approx. 10 litres!!!? so you can see how bad it floods.

Measure the resistance of the injectors (go across the pins on the connector) if it's zero or infinite (can't remember which one off hand) the injector is rooted and when running will stay wide open. May be part of the problem.

Failing that, have a look through these and see if anything relates to your issue.

At least you're in the garage, I was just out working on it in the rain & now I'm back to plain old no start again.

good luck & hopefully we can get back on the road soon with the help of the nice people in here

Hi there guys , Alspos and Someguy,
Thanks for info I really appreciate it, your help,my son and I are going to look at your ideas ,over this weekend , if I have recovered from my day in hospital (don't believe everything you hear about how bad our health service is it's free from birth until you die) ,except you do have to pay tax during your working life and pay for drugs when you visit your local doctor, .Sorry about that last blurb .
Kindest Regards Tony

We think we have found our non-start problem ,the screen frame on the l/h side has rusted badly and water has got into the ECU.
