It's not "active" just electrically adjustable dampers.

If its like the active suspension of the 80's you probably have 3 preset settings a sports mode, normal and soft setting. Kinda like the supras of the era.
Starions are a disease, the only cure is poverty.

My Galant has it.
its called Active ECS

ECS=Electronically Controlled Suspension
Active=it can change suspension settings while you drive, all by its loverly self.

On the control panel (located on the dash) you can set ride height (Low/Normal/High) and damper strength (Soft/Normal/Hard). Galant also has E-P/S and E-AT (electric power steering, electric auto tranny).

If you leave it in auto mode, it'll be a nice soft ride at low speed, but floor it, and she'll lower the ride height and stiffen the dampers. Can be setup manually though. My unit has 6 buttons in total, and two graphics with LED displays.

My ECS shocks were replaced at some stage with cheap crappy ones. So I have huge rideheight, crappy soft soft suspension, and a cool looking Active ECS control panel with the red error light displaying grrrr.

I was told the ECS shocks from Mitsi for the Galant were $700ea and no where near as good as a Koni or similar.

Yeah my galant also had it but it went long ago (and was replaced with the dodgiest struts and springs but thats another story).

Still got the control panel with cool little lights. But lucky it dosn't do anything coz people sitting in the front seem to have an urge to press all the buttons :x

Wonder if i could rewire the buttons to control a turbo time or boost controller. Would be cool and also fool cops looking for defect material.

Should be easy to do, just dismantle it, destroy the PCB tracks, and solder your own wires on to the button pins on the board :)

What goes there on non-ECS Galants is a little cubbyhole. Every Galant I've looked at (since I'd rather the little cubby hole) has had a cracked one, which is an ass, quite hard to find the little buggers.
