Is U.S. Auto block wide or narrow?

Post by Nosaki Faki »

G'day guys.
I have recently bought myself a JA Starion that was a private import from the U.S. Factory TC06 Auto, it needs a bit of work but my biggest issue is the bloody auto.
What kind of idiot puts an auto in a sports car?
I already have a Stazz box, clutch, pedal box, etc. that I got for my Siggy before that project evolved into Starion.
Will I be able to bolt this box onto the auto block?
Cheers, Devo.

I will just confuse the issue by saying that I once bought a Starion gearbox and clutch from a young lady that had an auto installed in it's place. Now I took it at the time that she did not replace the motor, so that would mean that she had to have a wide block auto box fitted. Now seeing that I am only into Sigma's, that goes against general opion that the auto boxes were only narrow block. Maybe the Triton or Pajero had a wide block auto box.???????

Here in the states we only got the G54B which were all wide block. There are quite a few Starions here with the slush box from the factory so Mitsubishi was that idiot. I guess they were for the lazies that didn't want to row. BTW that turbo should be a TD05 12A. That's the only option we had as well.

I am pretty sure the Starion 2 litres only came in a Wide block. And yes, there were a few Auto's thrown in there, so I am pretty sure that a wideblock auto can be found. But I am sure someone can prove me wrong.

I have never seen a wide pattern auto box.

Thanks for the info guys.
I was a bit worried I would have to make it fit somehow, adapter plate bieng the obvious option I guess.
If TD05 was the only turbo option I don't know what the go is there.
I will probably change that before too long anyway.
My intentions are to use it as a weekend car with occasional track work.
