Wide body and narrow body springs

Post by JAS »

just a quick question....

Are the springs the same between the wide and narrow bodys. Im thinking of lowering the widey and wonder if king springs for a norrow will work in a widebody????
Only want to lower it 30-40mm or so.

Don't know for sure Jas. A workshop manual I have says 88 and on cars have slightly different spring specs from earlier 5 stud models.
To 87 free lengh 312.7mm outer diameter 131.8mm wire diameter 11.8
88 on 327.7mm 132.8mm 12.2
Its a Euro manual though.
You can get king springs for a Starion?

I can't see why not if you can swap the rear struts around. The spring rate would be higher due to the increased weight of the widebody.

Just in case you do have some trouble, Chamberlains will make you a set of springs to your required spec from what I'm told if you bring the old ones in... they make the cobra springs here in Christchurch.
