There are certain fuel pumps that dont like sucking up fuel, but im not sure about the walbro 392 pump. You should only need a surge tank if you are on the track alot and find that you having fuel surge problems when cornering. Check your fuel pump specs and see if it needs to be gravity feed, or it could be your fuel pump mount is loose and your pump is vibrating. Finally check if your fuel pump is a real walbro as there are some fake ones out there which fail after very little use.
Starions are a disease, the only cure is poverty.

fuel pres reg

Post by ommstar »

sorry its a 255 walbro ,thanks for the advice , looking into my problem could be the fuel pressure reg?its off a tp magna and doesnt seem to open at all?? I will try using another cars vaccum
The car runs ok or it used to,seems to be getting worse ,intially was only after about 6 psi boost the afr voltage would drop to zero volts yuk then come good now it might do it at idle, then for no apparent reason come good
fuel pressure on the fuel rail was about 32 psi now its around 25-28 but intially was around 40 all very frustrating :x
maybe Ive ruined the new pump because of the fpr????
just tried other vac source and fpr doesnt open so me thinks maybe I have air in the fuel line as well
And now I'll seem stupid, they r supposed to open under vaccum right?
if it did my air in the system should be removed right??
I'm no mechanic but I'm trying

Regulator closes with boost, so the fuel pressure will rise.
Air will not be in the fuel line.

Have you checked the pump voltage?
Also as mentioned above, the pump may not like sucking from the tank so it's failing under load.

the gl 392 works fine , provided the pump is not fake , it also depends what size injectors you have , the standard reg id good for 450 cc , any thing larger would need a reg , a 1.1 would do the trick , as far as the 255 what do you mean ???????
the gl 392 pumps 255 liters per hr , this is the only walburg that can be externally mounted , the others are made to be internal , the 392 comes with some sponge to cover it , the others dont , you may have mounted an internal ...

the 392 draws the same current as the standard pump , so it seems like you have a faulty wire .
also make sure you have the correct connections , the fittings that come with the walbro are not the correct size

correction , just checked my pump , gsl 392 , this flows 320liters p/hr

the gss 341 flows 255 l/p/hr ,

all walbros have numbers stamped on them , as i said before , the gsl 392 is the only pump that is external , if you have the 341 or 342 , im sorry to say you have an internal pump , that can be mounted external , but will DIE , as these need fuel to cool them .....

check the casing and see whats stamped on it , also there is a couple of ebay traders located in melbourne that sell copys , so if you were unlucky to have got one of them , :glare:

some traders claim that the internal ones are universal and will work ,
thats crap .......

also if you want a real one , send an email to them via ebay and request a written warranty and suggest a pick up direct ,and you will see how many will reply stating the ran out of stock ....this eliminates the dodgy blokes , selling the crap , also be warned regarding the sard regulators , this things are worth double than the crapy ebay ones

i got mine for $160 bucks , drove down to a work shop and got one out of a box , should be a delphi box .. at least you know were to go if the thing is stuffed or a copy
ebay ????? you dont know what you will get
