Cruise Details

Date: 23rd October, 2005
Start Time: 10:00AM (should beat the heat and most of the traffic)
Start Location: Thornleigh Macdonald's (this may change, stay tuned)
End Location: Avoca Beach

General details are spread in this thread, and a route map will be drawn up for those who don't know what an old pac run consists of.

Anyone know if there are BBQ's, etc up at Avoca? We will be arriving there around lunch time (I'll assume that we won't actually leave Thornleigh till 10.30 and that we will take about an hr and a bit getting there and sorted).

Please reply in this thread if you are considering coming, to make sure we know who we are waiting for. We will wait until 10.30AM at Thornleigh at the latest (this is our departure time) and then unless we have recieved phone calls from people on their way, we will head up.

Comments, Queries?

If we get more interest then I'm in. Had a run down the old pac today, was good fun :) Maybe we should head up that way?

Sounds like a good idea. Or maybe a drive up to palm beach? As long as some other starions come I don't care where we go LOL .

Basically the criteria we are looking for in the cruising destination is:

1. Drive has to be fairly good, don't really want to just be running up a freeway for like an hour and then sit around at the destination. Twisties are good as long as everyone is fairly reasonably well behaved ;)

2. Destination has to have a large carpark. I was at terrigal today - not a good example of a finish spot. The traffic is terrible all the time, car park is real small, and there isn't THAT much to do there.

3. Low police prescene / low number of speed cameras (yes sir, doing the speed limit sir) is ideal, the drive to gosford / terrigal in particular has too many for my liking (went past about 3 fixed and a few mobile cameras on the way there today)

Somewhere up north is usually a nice destination, cause we can get pics of the cars with the ocean in the background if we are lucky, and the weather is usually quite good.

Any suggestions? I haven't been to palm beach for a while JD, whats the parking like up there, and are there traffic problems on the weekends there?

Big carpark from memory if not there are plenty of big ones at the surrounding beaches. Pretty good drive on the way up to and I don't think there are any speed cameras from memory.

Count me in! Will bring starion w/b, not magna !

Nice easy cruise to Palm Beach, touristy place though! Carparks require
coinage!! So expect a few people around.

Lots of people around is not ideal. If we want to get the token photo of all the starions lined up in a carpark anyway :P

I'm gonna go for a drive up north next sunday to see what the traffic situation is like on a non holiday weekend (should be much better). I'll check out the parking in terrigal, the entrance, and the beaches in between. Not a bad drive out there really, as long as we go up the old pac we avoid one speed camera and depending on the final location, we might avoid the others too.

Fr33styl3r, would you consider driving west instead of north? The parking's much better and you'd get a few extra Starions

Palm beach is nice and there is heaps of parking but if its a nice sunny day the traffic can be heavy.
