Recently I acquired a JB thinking that it would be just a donor car for a few parts etc. However, it was better than I thought, the motor runs quite well, stops & steers OK, but has heaps of rust that's not worth fixing. I thought I may I well have a bit of fun with it. I entered a local khanacross, & now doing the full autocross season at the local club track. At my age, I'm no longer the fastest anymore, but hasn't stopped me having heaps of fun.
Moral of the story, just how much fun can you have with a $200 car ?

Guessing it came with the LSD too. An excellent purchase!!
You covered up the plates...so it's registered too?

Fun factor cannot get much higher...a car that owes you basically nothing, will eventually pay you a profit for purchasing and gets used like it does is nothing short of a gift that keeps giving. :beer

Notice you've updated your signature too...it's more positive & you're also tidying the stable & reducing the fleet to numbers more manageable.

Good on you Pete :)

Thanks for all the positive comments guys. Frank, you guessed right, it does have a factory LSD as well. :D It was still registered when I purchased it, but has now run out but haven't got around to taking off the plates yet. The tail lights will be going on my JB rally car soon as that one mysteriously came with JA tail-lights.
Will be racing again this Saturday night at a night autocross. Have fitted the set of 4 HID lights off my rally car just for one event. Looking forward to trying them out. Stay tuned.

Did a "night autocross" last Saturday night with this same car & finished 12th out of 23 in choking, blinding & down right dangerous dust. Driving cautiously, I brought it home without a scratch, but had numerous near misses. Did crack the radiator & was losing about a litre of water every kilometre, but it kept going. Will have to put a spanner on it for the very first time now. Lifes good !!! :)

Entered in another Autocross today with the same old rough JB. Still would have finished about mid field, but I rolled a tyre off the rim in the first run, & limped home on a flat tyre, losing about 30 seconds. Was impossible to make up lost time & finished well down in the results. Still had heaps of fun tho.

$200 JB

I want this car  LOL

As everyone else has asked, where did you get this with JB wheels and an LSD.

How bad is the rust you mentioned?

Cheers Jason

Some days you just get lucky I guess.
A guy rang me up & said he had an old Starion that wasn't worth fixing, & did I want it for spare parts. I went & bought it for $200 just for parts, but it still had a little bit of life left in it to have some fun with.
Well the rust, mmmm, its everywhere, both doors, top of the rear quarter panels, air vent in front of the windscreen, firewall & around the tail-lights. Also the botton radiator cross-member was almost non existent, so I welded a piece of steel bar across from one chassis rail to the other just to hold the car together.
I have vowed not to spend any money on this car just to see how long it will last without any maintenance, so it will never be truely competitive, just heaps of fun. :)
