Entries open on August 1st for this years "Legend of the Lakes" Hillclimb at Mount Gambier next November. Last year we had all 160 spots filled within 48 hours of entries opening.
If anyone wants a 'fast tracked' entry, PM me before July 31st to ensure you get a spot.
This event is now regarded as the best non-championship Hillclimb in Australia, which only features cars with enclosed type bodies, that is, no open-wheelers allowed.
Enter now & you have 3 months to get your wheels ready.

The 2012 "Legend of the Lakes Hillclimb" at Mount Gambier SA has been run & won.
With just over 200 cars entered, & 3 days of racing, we can now sit back & relax for a few months before planning for the 2013 event starts all over again.
Unfortunately, no Starions were entered, but I did get to manage to do 2 demo runs in my street/stock JB. My time was competitive, but near the back of the field. With more HP, stickier tyres, decent springs & shocks, & bigger balls, I think the Starion could be very competitive. Biggest problem is my testosterone level at my age has diminished some what. :) However, the experience was great & now fully appreciate what it takes to win an event such as this.

At least the event was won by a Mitsubishi, a Lancer Evo IIX, driven by ex-touring car driver Peter Gazzard.

Thrash, might need a lot more than just an injection to get me up to the speed of all those young 40 year olds. :) :)

Niss - I normally put up post advising everyone here on this forum of the event when the entries are about to open, which is normally around July / August.

Steve, good to see you out there at Sandown.

Pete, it was won by a what?? a Lancer Evo IIX?? :wtf:
Are you an organiser for SEAC? I'm hearing lots of great things about this club and their events, yes, from Melbourne!

Steve, long time no hear. Yeah, the Sigma was my sons car. Every run he did was quicker than his PB from last year.

Frank, yes, I'm part of a big organising team from SEAC for this annual event. I'm the Chief of Communications that provides all the radio communication systems for the running & managing of the racing, plus do all the live on-course TV coverage. During the event, I'm the Race Director that keeps everything flowing (till some-one has an oops :) )

The winner was in a Lancer Evo 8, by about a half a second from a 600hp Datsun 240Z.

This coming week-end I've entered my JB in the Hillclimb at Ararat in the road registered class just for a bit of fun. Entries don't close till Wednesday, so how about some more Starions.

Thanks for clarifying the Evo, thought it might have been an 8...
Is the hillclimb on Sat or Sun Pete as I'm earmarked to do a motorkhana to finish the series on Sunday, I'm in contention for a class win I believe too.
What other details have you got, weblink etc?

Its a 3 day event, beginning on Friday for Historics & Clubmans, then all day Saturday with a 7.30pm finish plus Sunday till 4.30pm for all the other categories.
Friday entries are capped at 90 cars, with Sat/Sun capped at 150 cars. This year the Sat/Sun was filled within 48 hours of entries opening, so you have to be quick to get a start.
Full details of the event just completed are at http://www.seacsa.com/hill_climb.htm

yes it been while Pete - I've been a bit on the poverty line so the car just got parked up
bought a Kayak and went fishing it was cheaper than Motor sport with some fresh fish as a by product
Richard Farlam slimed me though I got entered to drive at Sandown on cup day
Just had to renew the CAMS ticket to play and have a works drive
I've caught the Bug and am rebuilding the sigma
Damm Him

I had noticed the drivers name on the sigma - is it running a bit more HP than the rally set ups

One Tree Hill @ Ararat hope you have Hp to spare its long and fast if its the same as when I drove there
you can never have to much Hp for that track

Don't have that much time to commit to the event Pete, but thanks for the info. I'll have to pop across the border and check out the SA action next year!

Steve, my sons Sigma is just a warm set up. Lots of fun with a small budget, but he does drive it very well. I taught him how to drive :) & he's always been quicker than me.
One Tree Hill has been reduced to 1.1km, with the finish next to the Telstra tower, which now eliminates that fast finish. I have only entered my "totally stock" JB in the road registered class just for a bit of fun.

Frank, you (or anyone else on this forum) are very welcome down here anytime.

Just completed my first ever Hillclimb event. Wasn't all that quick compared to the 400hp rockets, but did match or beat cars of similar power to me. Just loved throwing the Staz around a great piece of road at 100% throttle without worrying about whats coming around the next corner. :D :D Now I'm wanting to do it again.
