My silver JB is entered once again this year and to date it is the only Staz entered :(
Will be camping there for the first time and have seen ice all over cars parked in the pits as it can get cold up on the Downs the last weekend in August. Plan on getting 3 side walls for my Oz Trail gazebo to help keep out the cold winds and making it a bit more cosy by backing the Colorado in under it so hopefully I will survive when it's bed time.
Will have no trouble starting the JB in the morning as Lee has the cold start spot on and it starts first time hot or cold.
It would be good to have another Starion entered so where are all you "gunners" Dave,Steve ,Derek :? :)

For those who haven't spectated or entered this event, I have found a 14 minute video on YouTube with the 600kg hay bale chicane (Its dam tight) before the 2nd last corner. It shows the wide variety of cars competing & you might spot the only Staz that had to compete against a couple of Evo 9's :(
Google "Leyburn Sprints 2010 video" and click on the first 14 minute video clip app 1/2 way down.

That looks like windows-down fun. The yellow cars got my attention: the mustang running like rubbish, the understeering Evo & the oversteering VR/VS crumpledoor! Funny! And the sneezing red Laser!

Wasn't reving it much as above 5k the gearbox was a bit bauky/slow to change but now 7k as no problem with the 7 box :D so it will sound angry at the same spot this year provided I get a start as they have too many entries and will have to cull/disappoint a few people.
Hope to know this week if I get a start.

Just received an email saying entry accepted and am no 198 in a class of 14 2wd drivers.
I have ordered a mini video camera from Ebay at great expense ( $26.00) to record the Staz in action. It is only a 2mp camera so time will tell how good it is.

The mini camera finally arrived and working out where to mount it inside and out with double sided tape.Don't know how good my newby attempts at capturing the action will be so hopefully I (read no 2 son )will be able to post a video of the event .
Just treated the Federal 595RSR's with tyre softener for the 1st time to get maximum grip as well as making sure all the camping gear and plenty of blankets are ready to go as it can get b#@%^y cold out there. Gave my pit crew pass to Tyson aka Sonic as he said he was interested in coming to spectate for the first time.

PS Dick& Junior Johnson,James Moffat & Alex Davidson are competing against each other in a challenge in 3 vastly different cars .A post war flat head V8 Indy racer,Mk 1 Esky & a Falcon GT powered by an 800 hp Nascar motor so if you can get there you won't be dissapointed with the wide variety of cars competing and a great friendly atmosphere :beer

PPS Shane Webke owns the pub at the start line so you can sink a coldie or 3 and watch the start.

PPPS Watch your speed going there :)

I will give it my best shot Jeff :D
I have been trying out where to mount the mini camera and have decided on
1 the top of the screen on the drivers side
2 On the front number plate.
3 On the headrest of the passenger seat.
Hoping it all works out but won't know until I get home and download them so fingers xxx some good footage comes out .

A camera on top of the roof is the go. Thats what 100mph tape was invented for. :D

What about mounting the camera on your helmet so we can see what you see.

Guys don't get your expections too high as this is a $26.00 mini camera with a 1st time video camera operator.
There is rain forecast and in that case all recording will be from inside the car.
Thrash luv you always taking the piss.BUT just to set the record straight I am not a hoon :glare: LOL
