Cricket
3 reasons:Chris 83JA wrote:Though maybe a couple more Vettori's would have done the trick.. how does he get us out all the time!!?
1. He's awesome
2. In NZ we see a hell of a lot of the australian team on tv (and now we play you once a year in the Chappell-Hadlee), much more so than any other country, so we know the weaknesses of your batsmen.
3. He's awesome
Kallis (and Dravid to an extent) only work well in one dayers when there is a dashing batsman at the other end keeping the run rate ticking over. Otherwise they get flustered and feel pressured because they have low strike rates, and play stupid shots/ get run out.Chris 83JA wrote:A Tendulkar and an in-form Kallis and Lara may have helped too, and a Pollock pre-ankle surgery
Tis the season of Cricket and all rejoice…
Ah the days of the late Friday nights, resulting in a hangover Saturday, rocking up to the game late to find you’re fielding and just to make things a whole lot worse you have to open the bowling. Thank god this week was washed out!
Now as for the world XI, it went down as expected. I could go into a deep analysis of why but instead I will simply say, Australia is the best side in the world, if a world XI including the Aussie outfit was made how many Australians would be in it?

I have a car. I use it to drive to work, to drive to work I need petrol, petrol cost money, I must work to make this money… it’s a vicious cycle!

I'd put Symonds into the one day team, ever since the last world cup he's been brilliant and hardly ever let us down, and he bowled just as tightly as McGrath in the last England tour, and lets not forget his fielding too. Give Hussey a couple more years at the top level to prove his worth then maybe chuck him in too.
I think Lee would be a better choice for an all out fast bowler than Shoaib, but neither of them would make my world XI.
No changes to the test lineup.

Agreed - Bevan is the old Hussey ;)Chris 83JA wrote:I'd put Symonds into the one day team, ever since the last world cup he's been brilliant and hardly ever let us down, and he bowled just as tightly as McGrath in the last England tour, and lets not forget his fielding too. Symonds wouldn't make it in because of Flintoff IMHO
Two words: Shane Bond :PChris 83JA wrote:I think Lee would be a better choice for an all out fast bowler than Shoaib, but neither of them would make my world XI.
McGrath and Bond with the new ball.. oo-er!

rofl
Computer games don't affect kids I mean if PacMan affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music :D
I didn't see it.. Vettori has said before that he has worked on a wrongun in the nets, but he feels that he is only getting it right about 60% of the time, and that if he was to develop it it would reduce the quality of the rest of his deliveries?
He has 3 main balls: normal, quicker, and straight.. and he does pretty well with just those. Even Warney himself hardly bowls a flipper anymore, when the rest of your deliveries are great you don't need another level of variation IMHO.

LOL Man, Aussies are such bad losers!!!
You've won the last, what 3/4 ashes series and then you lose one and you spend the next two years whinging about it!!! At least the Poms just got on with building the best team they could to beat you you as soon as possible.
And all because your best spin bowler can't keep his "phone" in his pocket!
Can't wait to see the Socceroos come up against England in the world cup next year! What will it be? All because Kewel can't keep his girlie hair out of eyes as England put 5 in the back of the net! :)
